In response to the bike that is due for auction on the 18th Feb at the excel centre. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30476546...29692X874039X409e8c5f948328d557a46cc9c3507887 Some have requested some pics of my Spondon Ducati. Here it is: Largely put together during lockdown. It was orignally built by Steve Wynne in 1989. Had all the trick bits at the time. WP norton F1 forks, Ohlins rear, Astralite wheels, ISR calipers with Brembo top of the range discs. Originally had a tuned 907 engine with arias forged pistons. I fitted a 900 monster engine, but may at some stage use the heads barrels etc from the old engine. Was running well, but need new front calipers, and the oil pressure sensor to sort out. Must get round to it, but other projects keep filling my time.
Great to see this and note yours has a 9*6 seat unit compared to the eBay one. Is yours a later job? What is its history Geoffrey? Bet it looks good with your other bike of similar vintage.
UnfortunatelyI don't have much history with the bike. The guy I bought it from, bought it from someone else as a project, and may have dissasembled it. The frame was supplied to Steve Wynne in 1988 by Spondon. It was the 7th frame of this type they built. Later versions have a bolt on rear subframe (Mine is welded to the main frame). It has baines racing stickers on the fairing, indicating they may have done work on it at some stage. Unfortunately Geoff Baines has no records over 8 years old as they were lost in a fire. He did say that they used to fit Arias pistons, for which there is also a sticker on the side, so he may have done the 944cc conversion. (I have the bits, but it's a stock 900cc engine now). The rear fairing is a 916 carbon unit (which I suspect is an aftermarket part). The front fairing is from a Cagiva RS250, which gives it a sort of scaled down 916 look. As neither the RS250 were made in 1988 these are almost certainly a later edition. I really need to get it back on the road for this summer.
One of the fabricators I work with worked there for many years making frames, I grew up 5 minutes from their place.
