Mr Grumpy

  1. Feeling very grumpy at the mo’
After my recommendation to anyone who’d listen to buy an ABBA Skylift with the £ saved on doing a water pump replacement, I was happily in negotiation for a Skylift a two-and-a-half hour drive away.
    To be gazumped tonight!
I don’t blame the vendor, but am surprised at how grumpy it’s made me!
Anyone know of one for sale?
The nearer to Northumberland, the better.

  2. I can’t help with the ABBA lift and I’m almost as far away as it’s possible to be whilst in England.

Are you grumpy enough to buy a new one ?

Thanks for cheering me up with a first world problem.

  3. Hello. I have a Constands bike lift that I'd happily sell, as per the pic below. You'd just need the adaptor plate for your model of bike.

  4. Forgot to mention, I'm in Buckinghamshire, so not ideal, but often travel up to Manchester if that's of any use.

  5. Thanks. I’ll think on this. The Skylift has the advantage of no fitting on the bike, but this’ll have the advantage on price, although Manchester is a long way south of me. Thanks for the thought. As I said, I’ll think it over.

  6. This will indeed have the advantage on price: I only want £100 for it. The fitting on the bike is discreet.

  7. Motea are charging around £150 for one adaptor, and I’d need two, !
    Thanks, but I’d be doubtful.

  8. TBH they rarely come up for sale, I won mine on eBay from Bristol but I worked there on the day I collected it in my van. I was tempted to buy a brand new one and wouldn’t be without mine now, although I sometimes wish I bought a platform bike lift.

  9. Which is almost the cost of a new stand! Robbing bastards.
Abba lift kits are still about £20 aren’t they?!

  10. I had a lift table, but sold it last year, thinking that I’d passed the era of ‘working on bikes’ (£300!)
I haven’t really got the room for a lift table now, neither space around or height, so the Skylift would suit me better, plus it can be moved into the different places I keep my bikes.
Having saved over £700 by replacing the Panigale water pump myself, I may justify buying a new one
Living up here has huge advantages - views, countryside, twisty roads and hills, but it suffers from distance from decent services and sales opportunities. Nearest dependable Ducati dealer is 3 hours ride away.

  11. I also don’t like the idea of bolting an adaptor onto my Panigale, especially as it’s near where my knee/shin goes.

  12. Given the price they sell for second hand just buy new and save the hassle and expense of fuel, time, etc. unless of course it’s your neighbour that’s selling…

  13. The one I was gazumped isn’t being collected until next week, so the vendor will keep me next in the queue…just hoping.
