749 Trackday Tyres Uk

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by Grand Tourismo, Mar 14, 2023.

  1. Hi guys, any recommendations for track-day tyres for the 749, for the UK climate? I want something that gets up to temperature quickly if poss. Cheers

  2. I was happy with my contisport attacks will need to check which compounds though

  3. Pirelli Supercorsa SC1 front and SC1 or SC2 rear (180/60) are my go to choice.

  6. I assume you don't have tyre warmers? If that's the case be careful on SC1/SC2 for a few laps before pushing on. And without warmers you'll be putting the tyres through 6-7 heat cycles per day on track and they'll harden up/go off pretty quickly.

If you've got warmers SC1/SC2 are perfect and you can go pretty much flat out from the off.

  8. I don't have warmers.
I do however take it steady for first couple of laps.
Never had a big issue with them hardening up.

  9. Nope not at all a pro…that photo was taken at Cadwell on a Renaissance bike on D212’s with warmers…Epic!
I’m afraid I won’t be on warmers but I have gone for the SC SP v3 which warm up quicker ?

  10. When it comes time to change again, you could consider the Metzeler Racetec RR (K3). Andy

  11. Agree with @Android853sp - Metzeler Racetek are basically the same as the Pirellis.

  12. The Pirelli SC SP V3's did not disappoint at all. Scrubbed in nice and easily and they got up to temperature quickly enough without warmers. They gave me huge confidence at Castle Combe and I would have no problems recommending them as a track tyre to anyone visiting this thread

*Edit: I chose not to run road tyre pressures but to lower them for better track performance. I ran 28psi rear and 31psi front as per the Pirelli guidance sheet (roughly).
This is NOT what Ducati recommend and has to be at your own discretion.
