Side Stand - Tiny Bit Of Play

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Count Dukeula, Apr 20, 2023.

  1. Hello,

My 1299 sidestand has enough play in it for me to make a post. When I put the sidestand out, the bike rests, if i apply a little bit of pressure it will move 5mm or so.

Is it a simple case of removing the two mounting bolts and tightening up the bolt the goes through the middle? Are there washers I could replace?

  4. Update- the tiny bit of play was a sheared bolt. Amazing how it didn't fall apart and drop the bike. New c clip, bolt and washers on order from Ducati, so the bike is on the paddock stand for the next week or so, unless i work out a way to get a volunteer to hold my bike upright, its garaged!

  5. I pivot my Panigale regularly on its side stand. Especially shifting it about in pit garage…. They’re strong!

  6. Good to know. I suspect in my example, a previous owner, a garage, both, have taken the side stand off and not torqued it back up, but just impact wrenched it or some other neanderthal method of brut force and the over tightening has caused it to break through use.

I'm just uber pleased that I noticed it and investigated. The warranty claim for the bike falling over due to the stand breaking might have not been successful.

  7. The “sheared sidestand bolt” was a problem when I had my first Multistrada 1200.
