Replace Front Brake Switch On Scrambler Classic 800?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by JBC, May 9, 2023.

  1. Hello everyone

I'm trying to find information on how to replace the front brake switch on my scrambler 800.
The switch has developed a fault which means that the brake light doesn't consistently light up when I brake, so it failed its MOT.
I WD40ed the switch, but the fault is still there. You can hear the switch click, but at times, the light doesn't come on.

I found the part, but I can't seem to find any guides on how to change the switch. So any advice or guidance would be much appreciated!

  2. I don't own one, and don't know if yours is the same as this, but looks pretty straightforward. have you looked on YouTube also?
looks like it has a minute "piston" adaptor that could get lost on dismantling so best be prepared for this.

  3. Hey Chris,
    Thanks for the response!
I checked YouTube, but could not find anything unfortunately.
I was able to dismantle the switch quite easily on the handle and put it back, but the bit I'm struggling with is identifying how to access the connector at the other end. I tried following the cable, but can't spot where it goes, so unsure what to do next!
Thanks in advance for any advice!
    Best,
    J

  4. It's under the tank. Item 16 among this lot.

  5. Thank you so much! :)
    I’ll take a look!

    All the best,

  6. You should be able to get access with removing the tank entirely. Undoing the fuel lines is a hellish job.
