Hi All, I'm after some advice regarding rhe above. My key goes into the barrel upto the last pin - I think it may have dropped. Short of drilling the lock out is there anything else I could try. I've already soaked it many times in WD- 40 but to no avail - phoned a few locksmiths to try to pick it but no-one seems interested Many thanks in advance if anyone can help Cheers
Call Glenn at MotoV in Colchester. He might be able to help. A long way away but you could remove and post to him if he can help you out.
Strangely I've just taken the filler off my MV to fit tto another tank this morning. They are exactly the same as Ducati. If you can't open it you can't remove it
Ah bugger that’s not ideal (but understandable). Maybe contact your nearest dealer and see if they anyone?
I watched a guy on you tube repairing a stolen recovered bike without any keys. He used the new cap as a template and marked the location of the security bolt on the old cap. He then drilled at that point to reveal the bolt head and was able to remove the old cap.
Well then - that sounds like a champion idea - I'll source a replacement cap and measure it oot Cheers
Just an update Yes you can drill a hole in the cap to access the security bolt and undo it - only problem is the actual cap sits under the rim of the opening so you still can't just lift the cap assembly out. Tried wriggling it every way but eventually gave up and drilled the lock out I'm now looking for a quick release cap - hopefully someone may have one for sale - don't want to buy a Chinese one offa fleabay. Or buy a TWM one Many thanks for all tou advice Cheers
Pretty sure I have a Ducati Performance fuel cap left over after I sold my 1098R. I’ll see if I can find it. Andy
Stumbled across the video again and thought it might help someone in the future. https://youtube.com/shorts/7FkTKkDzTjA?feature=share
