Yeah Evotech stuff is the best, but they can take a while between appearing on the website and actually being available. I’ve submitted a notification request when they’re available, as I’ve wanted these since getting the bike.
True, but engine bars are a bit OTT unless you’re going off-road! Let’s face it, anything other than a stationery topple on the PP will involve insurance anyway.
I fitted engine bars on my V4S after talking to a Ducati dealer in Norway who had seen radiator damage after a couple of stationery topple overs. I assume bits of broken wings/flaps/fans could be pushed into the radiator. I never fitted engine bars on previous 1200 Multistradas and to be honest I don't particularly like the look however I wouldn't want a topple over to end a tour that's why I've fitted them together with the touring handguards.
Well after an unfortunate event in the garage the bike was laid down. I can tell you from experience the only things that touch the deck are the bar ends/hand guards, the 'wings' and the mirror. Other than that all good, just cost me for a set of carbon hand guards and wing covers!!
Sorry about your "unfortunate event" but it's good to know what gets damaged in the event of a "lay down". Last timed I laid a Multistrada down while astride it took me a few weeks to recover from pull muscles :-(
Sorry to hear that. I was a bit over enthusiastic getting mine on the paddock stand on Saturday, but managed to catch it in time. If it had gone, it would have landed on my other bike, so I've learnt to slow down in future, no matter how desperate I am for that post ride beer!
Received mine today, will either fit tonight or tomorrow. Evotech, in their wisdom, have decided to put an installation video rather than instructions, which will be fun, given that I don't have wifi in my garage!
Fitted. As always, excellent quality and service from Evotech. And yes, I know I need to Hoover the floor!
Not sure I would be happy bolting it to the block, miss your footing and lay the bike down could potentially destroy the engine.
I had an email conversation with Evotech, they said most of their crash bungs bolt to the engine and that they’ve never had any problems. The guys at my Ducati dealer don’t seem to think it would be an issue, and highly rate Evotech kit, they do a heck of a lot of research so know what they’re doing. If it goes over and cracks the engine case, they’ll get the bill, but I’m not going to sit around worrying about what ifs!
