Lean Angle Sensors V2

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by jamesm1980, Jun 4, 2023.

  1. Does anyone know if lean angle sensors can be mounted incorrectly ?

I have a V2 Pan and on the DDA data it shows 62 deg lean on the right and 48 on the left. I think the sensor is off by a few deg from centre, but would this be down to a bad sensor or just bad fitting?

Is there a way to recalibrate it maybe?

    Thanks
    James

  2. Not sure if you can recalibrate it but how’s about getting the bike perfectly level on the ground and checking to see how close you are to 0°? When I tested mine, (different ish bike), that’s what I did. Hope this helps…

  3. Thanks for the help, the issue is i cant see the lean value on the dash on the V2, i guess i could plug in a scanner and see if i get a reading. i think its a 6 axis imu so my worry is that because its off, the TC might not be working as it should

  4. Ok. How come you can’t see the lean angle? Not even in Race mode and Track dash? Not much help I know but you can on the 1299.

  5. On the V2 as far as i know, the dash doesnt have race/track dash, it has race mode but the dash doesnt change or show different info. The only time to see lean angle is on lap data (using the lap history) on the dash, or in the DDA+.

  6. Ok, maybe so then… I know the software between the old 1299 and V2/V4 is quite a bit different so maybe it’s so. :upyeah:

  7. Yeah, just had a quick scan and looks like you can’t display it on the V2. I wonder why they changed that.

  8. the V2 doesn’t have lean sensitive traction control so it won’t make a difference. It’s possible to mount the IMU at the wrong angle though, which can cause some issues with things like wheelie control, however normally this is with race fairings, as on the 1299 I think it’s on the nose air intake

  9. Its a race bike :) I cant find much info on how it should be mounted correctly.

  10. yeah it has to be totally flat, my mate ended up mounting his on an anti vibration plate and said it helped

  11. I think it must be different on the V2, its not mounted flat as standard, its at about 45deg. see pic

  12. It so frustrating trying to find info about ducatis lol.

  13. Okay, i took another look at the sensor.. dont trust people who say 'oh yeah its all working fine'.

Its missing two of the 3 dampers, ffs.

  14. Turns out the sensor was faulty in the end. Also found out that the bosch sensor is a common part on recent bikes, they all share the same part, so you dont have to pay ducati tax as they arent bike specific .
