Hi I just got a 2006 749s and someone tried to steal it from the previous owner so I've removed the old ignition cylinder and bought a set with a new cylinder 2 black keys 1 red key and key code in this situation would the new cylinder be plug and play or would there have to be a programming with the ECU/Dash. - I also have no keys from the previous owner, I know this sounds sketchy but its not Also if there are any recommended parts in particular the clutch case has a few bolts missing and the whole clutch needs replacement. - I'm also completely new to bikes so I don't know what's going on completely
@chrisw may be able to help answer your key pairing question. Regarding the clutch - what bolts are missing from what case? What makes you say the clutch needs replacing?
I just took some pictures of what it looks like you can see some bolts missing as well as the springs on the pressure plate damaged and what not and under that it looks like someone tried to jb weld whatever thoes stud parts are, what do you think the best approach to this might be
Goodness me! What a mess! If “someone” has tried to basically glue the clutch spring posts back on it does not bear well for their mechanical knowledge, in my opinion of course. The missing bolts are where the clutch cover attaches and, as there is no cover, the holes are devoid of bolts. The clutch - get a new one. Basket, drum, plates. Don’t arse about with trying to cobble it together, just bin the lot and start anew. As above, there may be other hidden treasures lurking from the previous owner.
I see you are in CA? Depends what you want to do with the bike - but a Ducati dealer may be a good start.
You need to get your dash off to Scorpio Electronics and tell Mark there you need the .bin file from the immo chip on the dash circuit board. Once you have the .bin file I can identify the original transponder codes for the red and 2 black keys. I can then create some transponders to these details. I can also identify the bypass code for the immo. All you need to do then is transfer the transponders into the keys you have. However, I see that you are in the US so getting things done in the UK may be problematic.
