QQ: Does the placement of my front paddock stand look correct? I have seen a few comments on various groups etc whereby people have been informed that the placement is incorrect hence the peer review. Hopefully it is and hopefully it should assist others should they have a similar question. Bike: 1299 Stands: Harris F&R Thanks all
Is there potential that the bike could roll forward on the pivot of the stand? I haven't studied where mine fits but I reckon that the triangle is more vertical/straight rather than angled backwards (749/1098)?
On a TD that’s how I have my stand and haven’t had any issues. If I’m taking the front wheel off, I place the stand a bit further back on the radial arms
As said, I have never really looked in detail but when viewed in the pics it just appeared not quite right. Main thing is, as long as it's stable then it will be fine.
Tbh I never know if the shark fin shoul point back or front…if in doubt do what most to and just put under the radial bracket instead. Won’t move then. I wouldn’t leave my bike stored on that but do use it for warmers like that as it’s super easy
I don't think it matters. With these universal mounts it can go under the Axle housing or the Radial caliper support. What I find is that the wheel will not be elevated enough if used under the radial supports. the "flat-bit". So I too use the axle pivot point. Never had any issues. Official Ducati stands are absolutely designed to only go on the radial support.
Should be OK as long as you're not changing wheels or working on the bike. If you are working on the bike, consider moving the stand to under the calliper bracket. With these stands, if the steering is turned at all then the stand/forks can slip off and that presents a hazard. When ordering these, if you speak to a sales person at Harris they typically ask your use case, and yours would have them telling you the stand is not suitable (as they told me). The safest front stand is under yoke, however that might require a small mod of fairings.
Thanks everyone for the valued contributions. Its given me food for thought in how I use the stand and the frequency.
