1299 Ducati 1299 Akra Map

  1. Took my bike to dave wood racing in buckingham to get my akra slip ons mapped correctly and a mot. Dave wood and his son were great all sorted could not fault them . The bike runs like a dream.
He also does the desmo service on the dukes he told me ( valves and shims).
Worth giving him a call , he will defo beat the ducati dealer prices told me around 1k mark ( days work for the desmo).
When mine comes up will take it to him as he is very knowledgeable on the older Ducati.
    Thumbs up review from myself.

  2. Desmo in a day? Thought it was a lot more involved than just shims and valves? I’d check that mate

  3. I wasnt gonna list all the work in the desmo . Two guys doing it in one day approx .

  4. When you say correctly, did you have the upmap or no map? What was your main takeaway from having it done?

  5. I had a custom map installed and a dyno from dave wood to help low down revs of the 1299 instead of going to a ducati dealer and getting a added map as I believe you can to make the twin easier to ride in every day riding.
So when I bought akra slip ons ducati would not put the official akra map on my bike as they said as I customerd the original then they will not do it .
Went back to dave wood he tweaked his custom map to suit my akra and it runs great especially low down ( as it bogged down a bit) and flows through the rev range greatb. It hit 200 hp with a sprint filter but I'm not bothered about the hp as long as its rideable which it is. Also as his custom map was just tweaked was only charged 70 quid plus a mot.
All I'm saying is about desmo servicing is there are options apart from sky high dealer prices out there.
I took my 1299 for a yearly service and it came back with a few loose screws on one side where the work had been done so would I really trust them taking the engine apart?.
My answer to that is NO.
    Just my opinion.

  6. That's useful to know. I am having my Akra's fitted in October and was also contemplating using DW. Sounds like some good gains.

    Thx

  7. Think it's about £350 for a full custom map but it it's just slipons and partial map might be cheaper like my second one. Tell him steve boulton recommended him might get a discounted price.
He's knowledgeable and he has done alot with Ducati he told me.

  8. Thanks Steve
