Can anyone help please? I have a Streetfighter V4s and purchased a Shorai LFX18A1 Lithium battery, as recommended by the retailer as being a direct replacement for my standard Acid Battery. The dimensions are all correct apart from the height. I tried to fit it yesterday and the battery holder won’t go on, plus the screw hole on the bracket is too far away. Am I doing something wrong, or is this battery incorrect for my bike? Thanks
Lithium equivalents are usually smaller (all 3 of mine are...there are usually spacers in the box if you choose to use them)....as long as the battery terminals are the right way orientated you should be ok.
Thanks for your reply I’m now being told that I shouldn’t be changing the Lead/Acid battery for Lithium. Have you, and is it ok?
There are no problems changing it To Lithium. Just be sure you don't try to charge it with a lead-acid battery charger. You need a lithium specific one
Yep - ive got a z1000 (lithium for 6 years now) Hypermotard 1100evoSp (lithium for about 4 years) and an old pre APRC RSV4 factory (lithium for about 8 years) - not a single issue with any of them. Just finished renovating an old 77 Honda 400/4 - thats now got one too. All of them have JMT batteries in them...never had an issue.
One thing to note is that lithium batteries don't like cold weather. If you can't keep the bike in an environment that stays above 0degC then remove the battery and keep it somewhere warmer.
