Thinking of trading in my Panigale R for a Streetfighter V4S, but asking whether the ‘23 updated model is worth spending my money on, compared to the ‘20-> version. Any comments?
Can’t stop the aging process. At 72 I am not interested in track days, and the Panigale is not conducive to my type of riding. It’s also not holding the value I thought at first, so whilst I love the idea of owning it, it isn’t getting the use it deserves.
I've had a SF V4S, euro 4 model, fantastic bike, but I don't feel its loads more comfy to ride than a Panigale V4S which I've got now. In actual fact the wind blast on it used to pee me off, ended up selling it for a Multistrada V4S.
Also agreed......... As I've had my fair share of sportsbikes over the years, and at 54 my body was telling me enough is enough....... So I purchased an SP2 last year, and omg does not disappoint !!!! One of the main plus comments I kept hearing between a 20 plate and a 23 plate, was the fueling was better....... But defo ticked all my boxes so far !!!
Thanks. I can’t stretch £ to an SP2, but the later generation appears to have an edge, if I’m outlaying my savings.
Further info for watchers and those interested. I’m putting in my ‘15 Panigale R Gen 2 with 8900 miles AND my 2011 BMW K1300S with 25000 miles in part-ex. The K has no service history but is well-cared-for. Offers for the two so far are around the £17000 mark, which I think is £14K for the Ducati and £3 for the BMW. Let’s see if that rises.
I don’t want to be a party pooper but IMO, if you are struggling with the Panigale R, a V4SF isn’t the answer. I’ve ridden a Panigale V4S and a SFV4 and the SF made even less sense than the Panigale. I had the offer of a SF for the day and whilst I had a hoot, I had to fill the petrol tank a second time after just 60 miles, it’s ridiculously fast for a naked and whilst I was pleasantly surprised by the position of the pegs (I’m 6’4”), it’s not a bike I could ride all day. Ended up taking it back after a couple of hours. If I didn’t need a full set of luggage for touring, the Multistrada V4RS would have been an option. Andy
Thanks Andy. Not pooping at all, the information is appreciated. I’m not really struggling with the R, just feel as if I’m not using it as it deserves. I don’t do long rides much any more (that’s why the K1300S is going).
Further queries There appear to be two ‘generations’ of the V4S so far, the second 2023 on with the improved electronics, larger tank etc. Question: will it be likely for the Gen 1 electronics to upgrade via an update? Obviously it’d not gain the increased HP as that comes from physical changes, and not the colour dash, same reason, but the better quickshifter, etc.?
I think theres actually 3. I had a 2020 Euro 4 model, then there was the Euro 5 which looked pretty much the same, but with better electronics and fuelling. Finally the 2023 model.
2023 model has a slightly larger and different looking fuel tank. Personally I prefer the look of the earlier fuel tank. I think there's other differences but can't remember right now.
I’ve only seen references to one update, for ‘23 models. Does the Euro 5 model you’ve seen have the upgraded electronics, Wet mode, Changed dash etc?
This is a Euro 4 model: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bike-d...Ducati&model=Streetfighter V4S&sort=price-asc This is a Euro 5 model: 2021 Ducati Streetfighter V4S S 1103cc for sale for £17,999 in Beeston, Nottingham (autotrader.co.uk) I'm not sure what all the differences are between them both. If you look at the exhaust loop under the seat you'll see straight away if its a Euro 4 or 5 model.
I don’t think you will be disappointed. I’ve owned lots of 1000cc sport bikes and currently own a tricked up 2017 GSXR1000R and a 2021 V4s. The Duke is beast to ride and really is a more visceral experience. My 210 bhp Suzuki feels slow in comparison to the V4. Mine has the Akra system which is bloody loud but it only adds to the excitement. Wife won’t let me start it in the street too early because of the neighbours and fuel consumption is awful but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Best bike I’ve owned.
