Hi Chaps Was just wondering if anyone knew what an "FIM ELM" Eprom was? I've just put a power commander on the 996 and one of the maps (705-503) is listed for Termi Slip ons, FIM "ELM" Eprom and stock air filter. My bike has the UM222 chip so was wondering if that is the same/comparable to the ELM chip? I will be getting it setup properly at some point but wanted to get the bike running near as in the mean time. All the other standard maps mention the stock eeprom. If anyone has a map that has the UM222, Stock airfilter, Termi Slip ons included if this isn't right and they want to share, please let me know Thanks
The power commander overcomes the chip you have in the bike and therefore as far as I have been informed it does not make any difference. You will notice a difference though if you do not have the correct exhausts, air filters etc. that are supposed to match the power commander map. You would be better getting a full custom chip set up done by someone like CJS Ducati it will be better than any Power Commander set up can provide as it has far greater parameters to custom map and you can put in rev limits etc.
Dont bother with a PC - get a custom map on the stock chip. Probably cheaper as well!! Chris at CJS got mine (999) from 120 to 144BHP using the stock chip (after changing the exhaust).
Thanks guys - Well I already have the PC so thought I would try it. And I already have the UM222. The bike was running great with the 222 chip - But was just wondering what ELM was?
