I’m thinking about showing some love for my 2015 821 and getting it an end can. Seems to be impossible to get a Termi new although they seem to crop up on eBay from time to time. sportsbikeshop still have the Akropovic but for the 2017-19 model. They also have a scorpion, but this apparently fits all versions of the 821. So is the fitment for both versions the same, will a can for the later bike fit the earlier one? Also, I’ve seen that a remap is required for a Termi or an Akro, but the Scorpion says no remap is required. Could anyone enlighten me? thanks for your help! MM
I’ve got a MIV on my 1200, they look/sound great. Not a great fit in my opinion, took some effort to play with the positional tolerances to ensure no stress/contact. Be careful when buying an end can, as you mention; the early/later models have different fixing positions (near the pillion peg).
Thankyou, that gives some clarity on the difference between the version. Was an upmap required for yours? I've just enquired with Conquest Racing about the SC Projects, and I'll chase up the Mivv one also.
I don’t know for sure on re-mapping, each manufacturer will advise on that. I’ve played around a bit between Mivv, spark and OEM. I didn’t do any re-mapping. I did notice with the spark that the engine was a bit snatchy/surgy around town in the lower gears and those behind me complained of the smell of fuel. With the Mivv I don’t have those issues and the power delivery feels similar to the OEM through the range. I don’t know the specific rules about noise/emissions so I always refit the OEM (with cat) for MOT’s. As S4rmark says the SCproject cans are superb and the homolgated Termi’s are nice too (with cat so I assume fully MOT compliant).
I would like some Termis, but getting hold of them is difficult, certainly for a 2015 821. They look great though.
Not quite as I have that same Carbon Conic and it does benefit from a re-map. Whether you can run without a re-map is of personal opinion and a bit irrelevant at this point as it's no longer available since it's Euro 3. Notwithstanding, SC-Project still makes some well built options for @Moorland Monster. Loud or louder: https://shop.sc-project.com/en/brands/ducati/monster-821-2014-2017 Baffle may also be removable on the current model. Ask.
Thanks for the replies guys - I have ordered an SC Projects can from Conquest Racing today. It’s going to take a few weeks to arrive, I’ll post on here when it arrives together with my thoughts. According to Conquest it does not need a remap.
