Front Stand With End Of Fork Pins.

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by Paul55, May 25, 2024.

  1. Met the very knowledgable and charming @bootsam in Almeria who kindly explained why I will never get the spindle out of my 748 with my present front stand up.
So seems I actually need the type with the “pin” at the end of the stand tube that inserts into the bottom of the fork leg.

Who has one for sale please ?

  2. Put them this way:

It may give more access - I got a full refund from Constands when I sent them this issue, as I stated that it really wasn't fit for purpose... and they let me keep the stand :)

I use this type for the 917 and 888:

  3. As @KevB says, you have the triangular plates the wrong way around.
I have a similar concept Harris stand with floating plates like yours, you just need to have the triangular “point” facing down and then you can access the spindle and nut.
I have used on 748/916/749/1098/M1100 and never had any problem.

So…while I agree that @bootsam is superbly knowledgeable, in this case, I think he was wrong to say that you would never get your spindle out!

  4. We did try that, but the stanchion rolls off the two horizontal bars without the bracing of the triangle plates across the spindle ends. I think this method might work better if the stanchion ends had a meaningful left to right groove cut on them.
I certainly would not leave the bike on the stands without a wheel in place.

  5. Swapped sides and pointing down.

  6. There you go..that’s how it looks when I do it with mine. Time to get some new rubbers to make it more stable?

  7. If it is only new rubbers then happy days.
But if anyone has the “pin” stand please let me know.

  8. Mine is not for sale but the R&G pin stand is very good. Fits many bikes including the 748’s etc with Showa forks.

  10. ‘Charming’ ‘knowledgable’ who is this imposter?

i had a similar stand and had to grind off the upright post a bit as it got in the way of the spindle. I have replaced mine with a lovely set of harris stands.

nice to meet you paul. Enjoy Portimao.

    :p to ricky

  11. Demon tweeks do Harris stands. £90 ish.
Avoid bolt up stands , a friend used a bolt up stand on his ducati and left it overnight, next time he opened his garage the bike had fallen over ( wrote bike off ) not a Harris, probably the worrier (warrior lol) stand that sells for £22 lol
