V4 Drinking Water Bottle

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Twin4me, Jun 11, 2024.

  1. I've seen some people attach a cycle style bottle carrier to their crash bars so you can reach for a drink whilst riding on tour. I don't have bars but wondered if anyone had a clever way of fixing something similar elsewhere such as the rear pillion peg?

I was thinking of something like this but don't want to mount it on the bars and don't know if it would fit on the pillion peg..

I'll probably just end up sticking the water bottle in the pocket on the roll bag like normal, but it's not easy to get it out for a drink and put it back when stopped at the lights etc.

I don't really want to go down the camelbak route

  2. How about a drip fitted like in hospital ?
It's actually illegal to eat / drink / smoke / surf the Web etc if it causes loss of control of the bike. ( or car ).

  3. Camelback does not work as the reservoir gets warm and the tube hot . Yuck . I tend to stop every 80 to 100 ( dependant on the fuel stops ) miles at a garage for a pee and water . Works well for the smoker as well . Folks worry about how many miles you get to a tank , I think more about the fore mentioned pee and hydration.

  4. I have a stainless thermos type bottle that when I stop for fuel on tour I usually buy a litre bottle of chilled water from the fridge in the shop, drink half and pour the rest into the insulated bottle and put it in the top box or pannier. Empty plastic bottle goes into bin/recycling there and then. Later stops for piccies, pee, chat etc. I can have an nice cold drink, even at the top of a pass miles from civilisation.

  5. Just fix a bottle holder to you panniers and slip in an insulated water bottle.

  6. I fill a 5 litre camelback with ice and cold water, when on a trip. It doesn’t weigh much, you just need to remember to blow the water back down the pipe so it doesn’t get warm. Or just spit it at the locals as you ride past.

  7. Or just stop , adjust the sweaty bollox and have a drink . Tried that but at 30 degrees plus the cold water of a garage and the shit fuel range of the V4 works well .

  8. If it helps, I always buy pop top style bottles of water, I have a modular lid and with a tank bag it is piss easy to have a drink and a snack whilst in control taking it easy on the motorway. Not that I'd condone such a thing...;)

  9. Yeah, i just go for my normal set up and stop and take a drink like you say @Captain

I usually take 2 bottles, one flip top that goes in a pocket on the rollbag and another insulated one with a screw top that goes in the top box

Don’t want to be wearing an additional backpack if the weather is sweltering either

  10. It was more about taking a drink when stopped at traffic lights, I’m not some ‘Merican Harley rider with a coffee cup on the monkey hanger bars…
