748 Seat Cowl

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by COH555, Sep 6, 2013.

  1. Hi fellow Ducites.

Having recently purchased a 748 with a boxed and unused genuine Monoposto unit I made some enquiries on this forum in relation to fitting it. I had numerous replies assisting me and personal e-mails from RED998 for which I'm grateful but it does seem a lot of work and I still have to buy a Mono seat at around £100.

Therefore I'm exploring the possibility of just getting a 748 seat cowl to replace the passenger seat on my Biposto seat up.

The only one I've found is made by Ricambi-Weiss from Germany.

Just wondering if anyone's got one fitted, what they think of it and if they have any pictures?

    Cheers

  2. Don't have one but seen them. Look a bit odd in my opinion as you still have the low back Bip seat. Its worth looking out for a genuine Mono seat if you are patient...

  3. I recon once painted it would look fine, seems like a common sense solution

  4. by the way its only 39 euros off their direct website

  5. Mono seat pads do crop up on ebay or classified ads now and then, got mine for less than 50 quid.

  6. I have a mould for the genuine Ducati Performance item and I used to produce them at one time and even sold a few to the old Ducatisti site members. They are nowhere near as good looking as a mono seat but they do give a kind of mono look.

I can send you a photo of one if you want to see what it looks like, I still have one or two left I think, certainly one of them has been painted but not lacquered. They originally cost £127 and if you see a genuine one it is not worth the money they are made of a flimsy composite fibreglass that would be wrecked quite easily in an accident, mine at least are stronger than that and follow exactly the shape of the old one.
