V4 My2022 Panigale V4s - Front Fork Adjustment Range

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Rainman, Apr 14, 2025.

  1. Hi All,

I'm looking for some pretty basic technical details on the NPX25/30 forks on the MY2022 V4S but can't find anything definitive anywhere. Just a few posts here and there that seem to contradict themselves.

Does anyone have details on the full preload adjustment range (ie, no of turns from fully wound in to fully wound out)? I already have the stock preload figures but I don't think this bike has stock springs, so just looking to understand the adjustment range before deciding next steps.

    Thanks.

  2. Wind them all the clockwise, then turn fully anti-cw and count the number of turns. I usually then set in the middle, measure rider sag and adjust accordingly to get the correct sag

  3. I've already done that and I think they're already out pretty far, hence when I would like to know the full range of adjustment so I don't over do it. As mentioned, I don't think I have the stock springs and previous owner was likely much much heavier than me.

  4. The full range of adjustment is the number of turns from fully in to fully out, eg 10. The adjuster will stop turning when it's at the limit. If you've done that you've got the full preload range, and if you've tried to set the rider sag and you can't get it to the correct measurement, a third of fork travel I think, then as you say your springs were probably changed for the larger rider!

  5. Yes, I know how to setup suspension, I've been following Dave Moss for years.

My concern was that on some Ohlins units you CAN over do it and not all have a hard stop. One would hope that more modern units don't allow you to go passed the maximum range, but I can tell you that the Ohlins unit on the rear of my 2024 Yamaha MT-09 SP will most definitely let you go passed the maximum range and the owners manual warns you not to do so as you can damage the unit. This .... this is what I'm intending to avoid via an abundance of caution.

So have you backed the fork preload completely off to a hard stop on your NPX25/30 forks?

    Thanks.

  6. I've done that on 2 bikes with smart Ohlins, never had an issue, always found it easy to feel when to stop, they are usually set poorly from the factory IMO. You've obviously got more special forks than I've had, was only trying to be of assistance. Rear preload was manual on the 1299s, and it's electronic on Pikes Peak so wouldn't know about your rear, assume it's remote pre-load the same as your SP.
    I never watched Dave Moss.
