  2. Apologies (there’s 55 listed on the BsB www).

Just awful news to wake up to. RIP boys and thoughts with your loved ones.

  3. Now’s not the time but I do have very faith that there will be a big review and look at what can be done to reduce risks of these incidents going forward, I think this was a freak incident, but don’t be surprised if we see some small changes to try and further reduce likelihood such as spacing the grid rows further to try to reduce bunching, or 2 warm up laps or whatever. Ultimately i have confidence that Higgs and his team will leave no stone unturned and won’t just chalk it up to an accident and not give another thought

  4. As mentioned this is very sad news, and I don't want to speculate on the cause etc.

I just heard on the radio news that the Police are now investigating the deaths, which I assume is standard practice, but in these days of having to find somebody to blame and take responsibility, I'd hate for someone to to be the scapegoat for this when they were just doing their difficult job and balancing what the racers want with the ever increasing pressure to make everything clinically safe.

  5. And being front page news will have the effect of influencing public opinion against racing:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news

When the people who's opinion is influenced will be happy to continue to Drink, Smoke, and speed in their dull cars.

  6. Yes, terrible news. I only know it's 40 because my mates son races in the sportbike class which is also oversubscribed, and he just got into the race qualifying 40th

  8. Over a quarter of the field went down in totally dry near perfect conditions.
Something isnt right there and I would suggest it’s bsb bogging the field with too many (at times out of their depth) riders for £££

You only get 30 max in gps and that’s with tracks twice the length and width of Oulton.

I’m still feeling sick and a bit angry with what I watched tbh and not just in that class.

Maybe i don’t watch bsb enough but it just seemed a horrible accident waiting to happen, but I think ive mentioned this once or twice before

  9. … I typed a reply to this then deleted it, just can’t engage in a Ducati forum enquiry over who we should have a pop at. I’d really love people to just focus on letting the dust settle and the relevant people do their jobs and perhaps in 3 months if the results indicate some misconduct then discuss it then.

we don’t even know WHO crashed causing the deaths!

  10. I do, I watched it live and it will stay with me for a while.

Mate I’m not trying to be controversial and those involved have my deepest of sympathies, I can’t begin to describe. I’ve watched racing since the late 90s and I can’t remember ever cringing so much at the obvious gaps in class as I did watching some of that this weekend.
I mentioned it earlier in the thread. A rider who’s a minute plus off the lead after 6 laps shouldn’t even be on the grid imo.
Need a re vamp of max field limits and qualifying times and dare I say classes. Some of them are just pointless club races.
And again respect to those that do race and not trying to be an arse. Just seemed so avoidable.

  11. I’d agree with the pace thing for sure, although that’s still unrelated to this accident.

I agree the pace thing should be 80% or off the grid. Not 110%!!

  12. 30 on a grid kills the sport.

Very unusual incident, grass caused the issue, maybe the easiest and least impact on the sport is widening the circuits at certain risk points.

Terrible for the families and all involved. And wising Tim a full recovery over time

  13. Terrible incident as has been said. Perhaps aided by an overcrowded grid and some denial of the inherent risks that ultimately proposes. Either way my deepest condolences to those families involved. As Keith Heuwen once said, motorcycle racing is not flower arranging and sometimes things go wrong (badly in this case) but everyone involved knows the risks and is onboard at the outset, so it's hard to apportion blame. Lessons wil unboubtedly be learned, however it's all too easy to be retrospective, when what is really lacking is a fundamental review of what's safe and what is not, outside of the public spectacle.

  14. Sorry you’ll have to explain that one, how does it?
    Even moto 3 only has a 30 rider grid….

  15. Revenue. Spectacle. This isn’t MGP. It’s a national championship. It’s very, very expensive now for a rider/team. Imagine if you took 30% away?

  16. I’m still confused but I’m sure it won’t be the last time so I’ll leave it there :upyeah:
