Keep telling yourself that… But in fairness I read an article about trainee fast jet pilots. Good gamers usually adapted quickly to the simulator.
I was really into early versions of Medal of Honour (early 00s) but then, IIRC, later versions and other similar FPS games where there were dozens of players online became too much like real warfare ie: long periods of boredom interspersed with hiding behind something while shooting at and being shot at by an enemy who is miles away and who you can't really see. Or at least that's how I remember it. I also loved the early Grand Turismo games but I was very close to completing one of them when my eldest son, then about 4 or 5, overwrote the memory card with LEGO Star Wars and there was no fucking way I was going to do all the licences, buy, customise and tune vehicles and win championships all over again! I've had a go at Battlefield 1 on the PS5 (the one set in WWI) and although it looked great it never really grabbed me. My eldest boy is still really into gaming, but most of the games seem to just involve him wandering around running errands and doing chores, with the occasional brief outbreak of extreme violence, which doesn't look very appealing. I like the look of some of the war games such as War Thunder or World of Tanks/Warplanes/Warships which have an element of historical accuracy and strategy to them, but it seems like there's a hell of a lot of stuff to learn in order to get anything from them and tbh I don't really have the patience.
Farming Simulator 25, nice and relaxing after a long day of resisting the urge to just drive over the complete utter thundercunts in cars who think it is acceptable to pull in front of a fully loaded truck, and slam the brakes on so they don't miss their exit off the motorway That, and a bit of GTA Online
I've had great moments playing Halo 1 with my lads when they were younger...networked 3 PCs on the dining table...last man standing...great fun, until the youngest turned into a proper killer!
Just done two fully loaded runs from central France to Brittany in large tail lift van/wagons, it was like being invisible. Wtf moment.
Just as invisible in a 44 tonne truck too Mind you, I had a cockswallowing thundercunt machine driver hit my truck whilst it was parked, he adamantly denied it was him that hit it, shame I had 3 out of 4 cameras on the truck prove it was him
Many moons ago I drove a 7.5 ton box van to Earls Court from Staffordshire, not far and one a Sunday. I vowed not to drive anything heavier than a panel van there after. You leave yourself a safe breaking distance only for someone to nip in front of you in a car near a junction who then promptly smashes his brakes on even though there was the option to pull in behind or merge into the lane gently without the need for the brakes.
The amount of times I see this on the motorway and not just Audi drivers either. If I’m about a mile from the exit I just pull in behind the truck, adds 30 seconds onto my journey. But I will say, the amount of times a truck has pulled out to overtake and not give me much notice so I have to slow up or move. But let’s not debate this
Nothing quite so fun as playing a game with your Son, loved playing Borderlands 2 with mine. Added bonus they know so much about gaming and you’re obliged to up your game.
Oh dear. Some people on the roads don’t understand the inertia and momentum thing. Like young lasses. I often wonder what planet they’re from… Since the onslaught of our ever rocketing population and associated road congestion, motorway driving standards often leave me staggered. And not in a good way…
I just upgraded my pc, I had a 9900k and a 3090 under water (custom loop). And have now got a 14900k paired up with a 5090. I've not been that much into games the past couple of years, but with the new pc... I've been playing none stop. Mostly catching up on single player games with a couple of mp titles thrown in for fun to play with some mates. I keep being taken back by the visuals of games now I'm able to properly utilise 4k (I have a LG C2 oled as my monitor) at 120fps with RTX and it's mind boggling. Cyberpunk is running at max, with path tracing and frame gen (x2) and it's buttery smooth and so life like with the lighting.
