Went for a nice ride in the sunshine up and down the Northumbrian coast First stop was Druridge Bay, then onto Newbiggin, then Tynemouth before heading back via Whitley Bay and Blyth beach
I would recommend going further north past Alnmouth, Craster, Dunstanborough, Bamburgh, Newton by the Sea.
Having left the empty 848 S/F tank in the garage over Winter then transferred it to the conservatory early March, did a trial fit today and the mounting hole is central on the bracket again, so it's shrunk back! Well chuffed as it must be the 3rd time I've removed it but 1st time I've noticed any difference when re-fitting. Can only presume it's the higher temperatures in the conservatory over the last 8 weeks?
Finally got the side stand bracket hole sorted with a helicoil so bolt now tightens next is MOT then start using the f’ing thing!!!!
I tried that with my S4RS. Alas it didn’t work so it still slightly swollen around the key area Maybe I should try the same as it gets to 40deg in there
I recently did a trip to Wales for a few days on my Z400 and it performed faultlessly except developing a small oil leak which I tracked down to the clutch push rod. When I removed the rod it was obviously worn around where the seal sits so I looked into a replacement, Kawasaki no longer supply them new (it is nearly 50 years old) and used ones are just as bad so I made one out of some 7mm stainless round bar and it’s all sorted.
I love a bit of home engineering. The fella that sorted mine has a large hobby workshop, I haven’t nipped in yet (it’s only local) on the farm he lives on and was telling me he has lathes and a laser cutting jig which can do brackets etc….now that is a reason to pop and see him…I fancy a thumb brake and have the small Alli to make one just never got round to trying
Cleaned my GasGas ready for a sedate ride on it as you do when visiting foreign lands so as not to upset the local people.
Decided to go for a ride to Tan Hill pub and then Buttertubs Pass. On a sunny Sunday. Big mistake. All the car drivers pull over on narrow roads to let you pass but rows of TopBox Terries, oh no . Though shalt not pass. Most of them look like they were on their CBT, top boxes and legs flapping everywhere. Surely if someone wants to "make progress" it's no skin off your nose to move over a bit. And again WTF do you need 6' wide panniers for on a 2 hour Sunday ride. This should have gone in the rant thread but I couldn't find it Stopped for a bacon bun so a bit happier now. And tear off are proving useful again
All part of ‘the look’’, I agree though you’re trying to make progress and those who ride with a broom handle up their arse won’t cooperate.
