Having a audit of old paperwork and realised I’ve had my 911 for 7 years and done <1000 miles, my S4RS over 4 and about 600 miles, the pani almost the same and done about 150 miles. Has anyone done less on their toys?! Bear in mind, apart from another car (I’ve had 5 in the time of the 911) I don’t use other bikes
I used to work with a guy who had a CBX, he told me he'd just had it mot'd and he'd only done 365 miles last year, I said "f#ck me a mile a day!" ;-)
Life happens. Sometimes a lot of it is in the driving seat, sometimes not so much. Besides, you played a lot more golf than some!
Do you keep all the documentation live? Tax, test, insurance etc? Spunking cash up the wall if you do
Probably done 20 miles on my RD250D in ten years, about a 1,000 on the Himalayan over four years, the last year 20. I’ve probably ridden over 10,000 on my bicycle in six years. But I have ridden my Multistrada & RT a lot more.
I only did less than a thousand miles last year and the year before across both my bikes hence I’m selling one, and will probably just give the other one back (PCP) when I possibly can
14 plate 899 - 30000 miles. 13 plate GS 63000 miles. I’ll get me coat. Run a car for work/slave commute too.
Mostly. Car gets mot when I’m going to use it, so sometimes just over a year, and has had several oil changes/services. Bikes same: mot every year. All insured but don’t tax them any more…car was taxed all the time for the first 4 years ♂️ so yeah, there’s about £1200 pa at least to keep in the garage! But nice to look at
468 miles on my SF1098S and the other one has not turned a wheel in 6 months, not bothered, I enjoy owning and looking at them, always searching for bits to buy and probably won’t go down in value much more, they can just sit in the garage a while longer.
Yeah it’s the tax that stings a bit. Over £700 pa. Insurance is a no brainer. MOT’s easy and relatively cheap… And I was pleasantly surprised to see my insurance premiums half this year… wtf??
10-20 years ago you’d hear bikes roaring through the countryside. Particularly on sunny weekends, obvs. Definitely a downturn in such observations. Youngsters aren’t really taking it up so much now. And it’s noticeable.
Not round here it’s not lol. I have two young neighbours with panigales another with a garage full of old uns and I’m woken up almost every afternoon by the sound of some idiot on his ape going down the gears past my house. Add the hoolies on their dirt bikes and the crusty’s on their chrome stuff it’s a pretty healthy bike scene right now in east Herts.
