Another daft question. My 1260 Enduro came to me with Aluminium side panniers and Topbox. The Side Panniers are fitted with rubber handles: But the Topbox isn't: You wouldn't want to carry the Side panniers around with the handles when full as they wouldn't take a lot of weight, but they are really useful when moving them about empty. The Topbox on the other hand is really awkward to move about empty with no handle. The bikes last owner passed on a handle for the Topbox he'd brought and not fitted: Apart from cost cutting, before I drill holes and fit it, can anyone think of a reason the Topbox isn't fitted with a handle despite having the recess for one? Part of the reason I'm asking is that I had a boat once with vertical webbing handholds down the sides which at certain speeds when towing on it's trailer would flap about violently and rip themselves to pieces. The handles on the side Panniers are obviously in the direction of travel, but the one on the topbox would be across the bike and potentially have the same issue as my old boat handles. Anyone seen this? .
Touratech boxes. They still sell them with or without the handles fitted and the handles avail an accessory. Some folk dont want the handle cluttering the top and lash soft packs on the lids. You can download the drilling instructions from their website.
