Featured New Bike Has Arrived

  1. Well after a 6 month wait my Streetfighter V2 has eventually arrived.
Had a 120 miles run out straight away so here is my first impressions.

There has been a lot of debate about these new models, mainly regarding the drop in power and the 17kg weight reduction.
Obviously I am just taking the bike to 6k so you cannot get a true impression of the engine but it feels very smooth for a twin and I think when you can rev it more it will be plenty fast enough for our roads.
My Monster with 110hp was quick as any of my other bikes on the roads I use.
I did notice the engine will pull from much lower revs than my previous V2 SF which I found the power to be quite high up.
It has a lovely induction noise, exhaust is very quiet, well it is with my earplugs in.

The bike does feel VERY light and steers beautifully, holds a line great.

The quickshifter is smooth both up and down but I found an issue a few times.
When coming into a corner quickly and quickly downshifting you go from 6th to 5th then go for 4th but the bike stays in 5th as though it is in neutral and even pulling the clutch in it would not shift to 4th.
As soon as the bike slowed by using the brakes it shifts to 4th no problem.
This was just when slowing quickly using the engine braking otherwise it was fine.
Something I will have to look out for when I next get out.

The indicator switch is situated below a protruding lip which makes it a little harder to operate, nothing actually wrong with it but they should have made the switch flush.

The side stand is directly below the footrest with about 10mm sticking out which makes it awkward to get down with boots on. I have had other bikes like this so it’s not something new.

Dash is a decent upgrade, nice and clear, easy to operate. Indicator arrows are quite small.

Seat is quite firm and there is more weight on the wrists than my Monster, you feel right over the front end.

I have around 145 miles on it and it says it has 15 miles left but I don’t think the dealer filled it to the brim. Says 58.5mpg

For the price Ducati could clearcoat the paint, it would cost them next to nothing. Oh and why fit cruise control and heated grips switches then do a KTM and want extra to make them work.
As it happens you cannot have cruise when you fit the Termi system anyway as the map disable it.

Overall first impressions are that it will be a good bike, especially with my extras to go on.
Fitted the single seat unit, fuel cap, bar end mirrors and charger lead so far.
Waiting for the Termi to get rid of the Stevie wonder designed link pipe and tail tidy to get rid of the scaffolding.

    Couple of driveway pictures.

  2. I saw one at the dealers the other week. Looks a lot better than the new v2 Panigale I think. That just looks odd whereas the SF looks good. It’s pretty tall in the seat I thought. Felt higher than my 955 v2 Panigale.
    Enjoy.

  3. Congrats.
I’d defo get that qs looked at. Doesn’t sound right at all!

  4. I like the scaffolding (rear light stalk) It helps keep you clean!

  5. Lovely bike Ian, as have been all your previous steeds, especially the CCM.

  7. Very nice - and great write up. Totally agree with the clear coat, it's bugged me for years - these are sold as premium bikes, and at premium prices - I had mine PPF'd for that reason.

I know my previous SF V2 has Engine Braking levels under Settings, so maybe the willingness to downshift 'aggressively' is related to the level that's set to?

    Enjoy the bike!

  8. I need to look in the settings and see if changing anything solves it.
It’s fine during normal slowing down downshifts, it seems to be when you aren’t braking and letting the engine brake for you when slowing down quickly just going 6,5,4,3,2 only it sticks at 5th. Never had this before.
I need to check if it is still actually in gear when it does it.

  9. Loving the bike mate, and I also agree on the ppf !! As I've spent an absolute age, applying it to all my bikes in the past......
But in the mean time, definitely invest in a tank pad,and knee traction pads, for that beautiful looking tank mate.....
    Looking sweet.... Enjoy !!!

  10. I like that…

  11. Well been out for another 120 mile run today. Filled the tank and the gauge was saying 146 miles. Rode up the road at a steady speed and the mileage went up to 180 miles range.
Got to the twisty stuff and even though I am only taking the bike to 6k the range dropped quicker than Katie Prices knickers.
Ended up after doing the 120 miles there was 29 miles left, apparently.

I think when the engine can be fully opened up it will be a very quick bike for the Uk country roads. Some go on about it being 30hp down on the previous model but it certainly doesn’t feel it to me.

My right wrist still had a bit discomfort and the seat is hard, my arse bones were hurting, although I didn’t stop at all for the entire journey.

The 5th to 4th issue only happened twice and the bike is definitely still in gear when it happens. I was wondering if it’s a quickshifter calibration issue although 99% of the time it’s perfect but when it does it you cannot shift to 4th even with the clutch in until the bike slows down then it’s normal again.
    Gearbox otherwise is really smooth.

It’s well worth giving one a try

  12. Lovely bike mate congrats. I sat on the V2 multistrada and the seat seemed very solid, almost overfirm. Soft seats are just for the showroom and offer no more comfort a few miles down the road but this seemed rock hard. It could well bed in perfectly. I’ve always gone for comfort gel type seats and theyve always been great but feel like they have more give than the new V2 seat. Let us know how you get on with it. Is there a comfort seat upgrade? Wish they’d just put that on in the first place :D

  13. QS wise if it’s not being revved they can be more hit and miss and less smooth, at least in my experience. When you’re run in and riding it normally then perhaps it’ll go and also once it’s all bedded in.

  14. Back end looks much better with the tail tidy fitted.
The 2025 Streetfighter V2/V4 and 2025 Panigale V2/V4 all use the same tail tidy.

  15. tail tiday looks great. is that the evotech one? What size plate are you fitting to it goes between the silencers and doesnt get buffeted too much?

  16. It is the Evotech version, got an 8” x 6” plate.
Normally go for 7” x 5.5” but plod are targetting bikers instead of the balaclava clad morons.

  17. You’re so lucky you’ve got yours
I’m so jealous, I’m still waiting for mine.

but! Congrats on the new toy, great write ups

    Enjoy this weekend :)
