The kids and wife decide to install live360 tracking app to my phone so they can tell where I am whilst on constant taxi duties/working for them to spend it. Didn't realise it also logged driving speeds.....could this be used against me in a court of law ? Or just for getting a massive bo*%king off my 14yr old daughter after spirited ride on sps last Friday
it's the future.. not long - possibly not in my lifetime, before we ought to maybe turn our phones off while on a "spirited" ride out.
It seems to have been overwritten quickly with daily driving, but suppose they could probably use your phone signal for fairly accurate speed over ground. Think most criminals have been leaving mobile devices at home for years if registered to them.
For a speeding offence l think you have to have been recorded by a calibrated device which l doubt the app is. Maybe in the future it will be though.
Yep, because of Live360 Lady Nasher knows exactly where I am and where I've been all day. I don't mind at all, although it's strange how many places there are around here where the mobile data 'signal' is so bad it's almost as if my data is turned off
A universally acceptable method of obtaining sound evidence/prosecutable proof still needs to be achieved, - it's bound to be a while. A few years ago I glanced down in shock to see 180 Miles per hour on the clock on a road I knew really well, but Nintendo did say they had a glitch at the time.
It's ok for tracking, but, not always very accurate A few years ago, my wife was tracking my son and his girlfriend as they were walking around Lincoln, in readiness for picking them up, the app showed them to be nearly half a mile apart, they actually were together I, personally, don't use it, I kept being pinged with notifications, so I removed the app from my phone
Can be turned off apparently? Lamb chop rides on you tube was talking about the same thing the other day, 80 messages about speed /acceleration on a ride out to his Mrs phone
So I understand it, police evidence needs to be on calibrated and certified equipment, evidence from other sources doesn’t have the same stringent requirement. This is how prosecutions with the general publics dash cam evidence etc are succeeding.
Data from any phone could be used to determine speed - sat navs on phones use this feature. Using it legally is a very different thing thankfully.
Sadly, the way things are going with dashcam's from any willing volunteer being used to prosecute then its only a matter of time before the police will be willing to accept speeding ones from "approved" devices no doubt Some of them are laughable though - My example being I dared to overtake a cyclist within 30 feet of space then get a letter in post it seems!
This is why I cannot see myself buying a new car ever again. Too much intrusive tech intervening to make any drive miserable.
An old Garmin of mine lost connection in a wooded area, a couple of tight turns later and a subsequent catch-up when the GPS signal was regained resulted in the stats dashboard for the device showing a speed exceeding Mach3. Impressive for a VFR VTEC...
I haven't seen them for a while, but there used to be a lot of "citizen speed recording" via guns etc in Pixham near box Hill over the years. I did get a police warning in the post once. Someone who used to post regularly on here, decided to park up and approach them while videoing with his phone. They even asked him what he was doing and he said something along the lines of" I'm only doing what you're doing"
Has anyone ever looked at Live360 when on a fast train? It's quite amusing, the usual little Nissan Micra like car bouncing along is replaced with what looks like Dick Darstardly's Mean Machine from Wacky races with flames coming out the back.
Car SatNav helped to snag the crossbow killer who murdered someone seemingly randomly in N Wales. His VW (like many I’d imagine) used its GPS to keep a record of where it has been. So despite the killer not actively using the SatNav, it placed his car with ‘x’ yards of the remote bungalow where the murder took place.
I disliked because I agree. These are the kind of people that called nazi command centre because they thought a Jew lived next door. Busybody c*nts
And dashcams are used by the worst drivers so that when you get SO FUCKED OFF with their slow, shit driving (no mirror, then signal and manoeuvre all at once for example) and go past them, they can send it to plod to make you the arsehole.
