Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but have you set the rider sag on it? If that's off it will be a struggle to set the rest of the suspension
If you are anywhere near Bookham I'd take it to Steve Jordan & get him to set up the standard suspension before spending any more. Best £80 I spent on my MultiStrada.
I’ve got Maxton on my doorstep and Kais up the road so I’ll be taking the bike to one of those. Thanks for helping.
Hi I softened mine off and didn’t like it but that ended up being due to not enough air in the tyres. I had spoke with JHS and was looking to get it in but after speaking with Louigi Moto and then said before to take all the pre-load, they did that with the front but I need to do same with rear (need to check toolkit to see if it has the tool) and then I’m gonna give it a whirl. I did a day riding through Bristol and Cheddar and it totally beat me up.
Backed everything off on the front and took off the comp & rebound damping from the rear. Still rock solid. Spoke to Maxton and to get the bike to where I had my v2(which was incredibly good) would cost £2400. The forks and shock are over damped. My next port of call is Kais as they are my local ohlins specialist. They did a great job on my TTX on my speed triple 1200rs so worth a look at.
JHS Racing in Bristol quoted £850 to get the suspension resprung and serviced. Not revalved just new springs front and rear and fresh fluid. Did Maxton quote include complete re-valving?
Their price was for a new shock as they don’t rate the TTX and 25mm cartridges for the forks. It did work very well on my v2 but very expensive.
Fwiw, Kais set the sag on my Panigale R, and it was like riding a different bike afterwards, although they did recommend fitting a softer rear spring if things did not improve, but not necessary for me. I took the bike to them, and went through the process with them, charge was about £60, if I remember correctly. They also did my 1198SP, and improved that as well. Good luck, Tom.
that’s makes sense, it’s interesting as I always thought the TTX was supposedly quite a good shock but I would love to try the K-Tech stuff to see how that compares. Not had Maxton work before, I can’t remember who did my R1 from a while ago.
Never had any probs with the OEM ohlins fitted and found them very responsive to minor tweaks when chasing laptimes.
