Fitting A Carbon Hugger To A 950sp

  1. Hi all,

Got myself a carbon hugger for my 950SP which didn't coming with any fitting kit so my assumption was that it reuses the same fittings as the plastic hugger that it replaces. However, on removing the plastic one and then trying to fit the carbon one the bolts don't tighten down on the hugger. They go in as far as possible but this still leaves the hugger moving around.

So, my question is, should the hugger come with different bolts, or should I be using washers/spacers. Can anyone who has fitted one themselves shed any light for me?

    Thanks

  2. Hi I fitted a carbon hugger to my 950 SP (Ali express), no bolts supplied, so I used original ones and it seems fine, no movement. I can't remember if the original bolts have the spacer as part of them or not. I recall what a pig it was to swap over (I left the wheel in place). I cut a cheap Allen key down and it worked well, just getting the bolt started was a pain. My guess is the 'spacer' part is longer than the carbon fibre is thick. Some black bolts without the spacer part are probably available on eBay or Amazon. The washer option will likely work too, with the right size washers. Knowing what a pig it is to fit, I wouldn't relish the thought of using washers! Good luck and hope you get it sorted.

  4. I just fitted 1. It came with plastic washers, so u could try normal washers.
