I always get my tyres from Protyre (Micheldever Tyres) in Hampshire where they fit them. Now it seems that Protyre do not offer a fitting service. Please can anyone let me know where in Hampshire, Surrey or Dorset you know of a good fitting and supply dealer. Thanks
Merrow Tyres in Farnham. Prefers to fit to loose wheels, but has fitted to bike in the past when I've left it with him. Run by a very helpful chap who rides bikes, but whose name I can't remember. https://www.merrowtyres.com/
That's another one down here on the South coast that's stopped fitting Motorcycle tyres then. I really struggled to find somewhere to do mine recently as everyone round here has stopped. I did discover however that Russ's tyres in Portsmouth is actually still open having been told they'd shut: https://www.russ-motorcycle-tyres.co.uk/ I had to book 2 days in advance to get tyres fitted to loose wheels, it would have been longer if I took the bike in. They did a good job with friendly service, but with no other choice around here a recommendation is irrelevant really. .
Disappointing but not unexpected as I know Micheldever has had difficulties recruiting and retaining staff with motorcycle experience. Not been for a while so I’m hoping it’s just the ride in, ride out service that has ended and not stopped fitting motorcycle tyres entirely. I’ve used them for what seems like a lifetime but always take in loose wheels. Ride in Tyres on the A4 just before the junction with the IDR in Reading seems to have a good reputation. Andy
I use GTC near Guildford Contact Us - Guildford Motorcycle They do ride in or loose wheels, always had good service and a good tyre selection as well. Best to book a slot before you go. They also have a good look round when changing tyres on the bike for any issues but no hard sell for pads etc.
I use GTC near Guildford (actually in Chillworth south of Guildford). I recommend them, well run and honest. Call and book. They do a ride in service and loose wheels too. Just had a pair of Mich PR6 on my 1260. On loose wheels they were £315 - if I rode in it would have been £60 extra. When I had tyres fitted there last time I met Elspeth Beard in the waiting room - a very nice and interesting lady. Look her up.
When I lived in Reading Micheldever were always good, the other place I know is Ride In Tyres (Reading) and then closer to me now Quedam tyres / Furlongs (Not spoked Rally wheels) in Yeovil, Somerset - both I have used and are happy with. Peter
I'm off to Guildford Tyres tomorrow, I'm riding in to have them fitted as I can't be bothered to take the wheels off. I found I had to book a few days in advance though. I always used to use FWR in Kennington as I rode past everyday and they did them whilst you waited, best to call to make sure they have what you want in stock though.
Alright. I'll be the first to say it. Had you considering it yourself. It's really not that hard with the right bits. Saves loads in the long run. Just putting that out there. Love you loads.

Bead breaker. Tyre levers and rim protectors. Soap. Small compressor. Cups of tea and elbow grease. Plenty of swearing the first time.
I used to get my tyres at Micheldever Tyres. Mostly for the Jota. That was ~35 years ago and I'd put it on the stand in the carpark, take out the various tools and take whichever wheel off, myself. Then, after refitting it, check the wheel alignment against the kerb. For what that was worth. The ride made up for it.
I have this kit along with a briefcase style mains compressor I got from Aldi a few years ago. I've had it for about 5 years and it's just about paid for itself. Can be a bit of a struggle getting the tyre onto the rim with the likes of the Michelin Road6s that I favour.
Looks good ! Would love to be able to change my own tyres and balance them too. Means the tyres themselves can be bought from wherever’s the cheapest. Currently on my first set of Road 6’s, having come from Pirelli Angel GT2’s and the difference is night and day, for me. Definitely no going back.
VP were always been happy for customers to order tyres, have them delivered to their workshop and fit them on your bike or to the wheels. Im about to do that on my Himalayan, but will call to confirm they are still happy to do that.
