1260 Termi Too Loud

  1. I have trawled the search but don't think anyone has asked this before.

I find the full termi system on my 1260 enduro too loud and I'm not a huge fan of the popping and banging. I have looked for baffles/ DB killers but a dealer tells me this exhaust has them fitted from new?

Would refitting my stock back box reduce the noise or would it bugger up the up-mapped running?

If the stock backbox won't/ doesn't work, it'll be back to a fully stock system!

  2. Ref the db killers - have you owned the bike from new? If not, if the db killers are removable, might they have been removed by the previous owner?

  3. It's my belief that the standard silencer doesn't actually do a lot in this case, most of the silencing is done before it in the huge box containing the Cat etc.
So fitting the standard silencer to the Termi headers won't make it much quieter, possibly louder.

    Happy to be corrected though.

  4. It would be cheaper to find some better ear plugs.

  6. Standard system , BHP remap . No more annoying teenager noise and a bike that runs better and more to your liking. Took my full system of my V4 Multi for the exact same reason , well happy and less noticable by coppers with big ears and a liking for stopping you. .

  7. Keep the system , put the baffle in , bhp remap.
    Enjoy the weight loss

  8. I've got the 1260 with the full termi and in my opinion, the baffle makes a big difference. It sounds the same, only not as boystrous and also calms down the pops and bangs (doesn't eliminate them however).

The part is available on its own and I had a spare a while back but I think I gifted it out. I can't find the part number online with a quick search sadly, but I'm sure I've seen it online somewhere.

And yes, ear plugs should always be worn which helps.

  9. I'm not a big fan of the popping and banging either. I fitted a Termi system with the upmap to my Supersport 939. Which although louder, as I expected, greatly increased the popping and banging. I have virtually eliminated this however, by doing away with the air injection system. As standard, to meet emissions laws, the AIS injects air into the exhaust to burn off any unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Hence the pops and bangs on the overrun.
