  1. Yep, time to see him on a GP bike for sure

  2. Genuinely intrigued at how he will go given he’s at the top of his game.

  3. Wonder if Miller will get the push?

Be a shame. He’s been doing a good job.

  4. Makes no sense to me to move from WSBK to MotoGP in the final year of the current MotoGP format. IMO, Toprak wouldn’t come close to a win in his first year. Makes more sense to win a third WSBK championship on a third manufacturer’s bike, something no-one has done in the modern era. Andy

  5. Agreed ^^^^

Pointless while 93s there and on the best bike (assuming he has ambitions of winning stuff).

  6. All riders must believe that they can win, and I'd bet that Toprak does think he can beat anyone on the right bike. Besides, MM93 may well have another accident and be immediately out of contention especially given his past injuries. I don't think the MotoGP riders are unaware of that!

  7. I guess a few more million in the back pocket always helps towards a decision

  8. On a Yamaha?!!

I could understand if he was moving to one of the satellite ducati teams but….

  9. What if he joins and does a Crutchlow, ie at best top 5 occasionally. Cal must be the most successful to come from non-MGP route. How embarrassing would it be if Toprak barely makes top 10?

  10. Very. Andy

  11. Look at what happened to sofu when he was totally dominant in super sport and tried M2. Barely top 20 was he?

  12. Well its wasn't sooo long ago that Yamaha were the team to be with, and Ducati really weren't doing too much. Yamaha have immense resources, and if they apply them (and the cash) they could be back at the top in a couple of seasons. A two year plan for a MotoGP newbie might sound ideal; particularly as MM93 might be waning by then.

I think Toprak has the desire & the courage to see where he fits in the scheme of things, and knows he needs to be on the circuit to be seen by all the teams. He is taking a big risk, but if he believes he is capable...

  13. My understanding is there are changes afoot to the machines ridden. Maybe both Topper and his management believe Yamaha will have a world beating package.
He could well have the ability to win both a WSBK and MotoGP title.

Or it’s just a step into a series to show his talents to them as you allude to.

Be a great spectacle all the same hopefully.

  14. The Yamahas have gone pretty well in the past couple of races. Fabio was miles ahead when the bike gave up at Silverstone. Like I said, bring it on. Let’s see what he can do.

  15. Yam V4 in the offing. New rules coming up. Could be the start of something….

  16. I think it’s inevitable. Don’t know how embarrassed he’d be with his wsb titles and millions in the bank though.

More a now or never type of thing I guess.

  17. On a satellite Yamaha? You think he’d beat FQ yet alone 93?

  18. He deserves a better chance than a satellite Yamaha imo.
I also have some misgivings shall we say about (some of) the advice he gets.

  19. Yep. V4 coming, and you go to GP when you get the chance on the right bike, it’s that simple. Nothing left to do in WSBK and realistically the only bike he could go to for a new challenge is Ducati, which isn’t a challenge
