The cable tie method works very well . A boot heel, soap and cable ties to keep the tyre compressed make it easy.
Tyre levers are cheap, need a bead breaker obviously, I don't bother balancing anymore, but have a static balancer: All my bikes: 996, 999, 1098, 1199, muttly, monsters , mates R1,R6 etc etc
Ratched strap round the circumference of the tyre to get the bead back in if it's difficult on the inflation
Would be trying that if I didn't have my kit. Not sure about using silicone lube on the bead, stays slippy... As he said: "This doesn't always work". Kit is pricey I'll admit, even though a tyre lever is included it doesn't contact the rim, just used to easily get the bead over the nylon 'shoe'.
I had a blowout late at night and ended up using mobile tyre fitting stockport, and it saved me a ton of stress. They came straight to my place, swapped the tyre, and even checked the alignment and battery while they were there. If you want something quick without waiting around a garage, it’s been a solid option for me.
Ta, interesting, needs a deep rim to do that I suspect, and a soft ( as in pliable tyre) put mine in tyre warmers first to soften then up, have tyre soap now but used to use furniture polish
