There's no outlet to the sea. So all those boats in the first picture are houseboats, permanently moored, whereas before Beeching the sailing ships had bogies on the keels and used to come and go by rail.
Back in the days of old, before the airport was built, it appears surfers may have traveled to this popular resort by sailing ship..?
