Put 3 screw-tops full of oil in the SXV550 to get the level to the right position this morning, before the first test ride out tonight since the crank became two pieces....
Decals is it's correct term, stickers is slang in that statement. Those that want to be snobby in the trade call them decals and take stickers as a derogatory term mostly. They were decals before they were stickers, stickers are more associated with kids 'sticker packs' but the great unwashed use the terms interchangeably. Transfers tend to be either Waterslides think of your Airfix models or tacky back which as the name suggest are a little like a decal but manufactured using a different process. The last holder of the machinery that i'm aware of went out of business in the last decade. They had an extensive library of transfers for most UK manufactured motorcycles and other transportation modes. They even had a printing press from the very late 1800's working, stunk to high heaven of solvents i can smell it now. They also used be one of two manufacturers of number plate digits, were interviewed at 1 point as part of the Omagh bombing.
A little digging reveals they are Supermoto fitting only, which I believe is also true of the Mutants?
That’s interesting. I noticed I get to the edge of the Dunop TT’s as well( rear). Also seem to keep shape. As much as I’ve liked the M7RR’s and M9RR’s on my Monster and Multistrada the front goes out of shape, pointy. As I’ve said before resulting in steering head waggle. Today I rode up from near Malaga to Cuenca east of Madrid. Saw various others headed for the MotoGP at Aragon which I’ll be going right past tomorrow on my way to the European Multistrada Meeting in the Pyrenees. Darn, I’d have liked to have gone. Have to sort it another year.
Here’s a route map. The road up towards Madrid is really boring so I turned off and headed for twistier stuff. Tomorrow should be even better. 360 miles. Normally I like to do less but it was good and not much traffic. Try that kind of distance in the UK. Got sweaty hot in the afternoon though.
Did a bit of green laning and saw a van on fire then came home and let my lunatic dog attack a cardboard box.
Bradford Ignitions will re-wind it for you. They just sorted out a duff coil on my Gas Gas, which, being a 20 year old dirt bike that was built by Spaniards, seemingly on a Friday afternoon, it didn’t have the correct ignition system and I couldn’t find a replacement. Lovely people too. Post it to them and you’ll have it back within a week. 07516 350134
Thanks for that. It’s currently in the hands of Hunts Motorcycles they sent out a van and rescued me from the roadside, so I’m kind of obliged to them. I know the mechanic very well from back in the day when we used to tear-arse around on two strokes as kids. I’ll see what he has in mind and offer this as an alternative option to replacing it.
Bought an impact wrench as I couldnt take the rear wheel nut off with a breaker bar. Took some time with the impact wrench too before it broke free. Now I can enjoy cheaper tire changes and clean up the area that doesn't see much light.. About to bleed the brake system too front and back as I've finally installed the brake light sensor to the rear brake master cylinder
I needed slightly less fuel but did 100 miles, Pangbourne, Wantage, Lambourne, Shrivenham, Marlborough, Hungerford and home. That’s 500 miles towards the 625 for the running in oil change. Andy
Made a new gear change linkage clevis pin, and a new bronze bush to cure the sloppy rear brake lever on the bevel
