  2. Spent 20 minutes waiting for virgin bastard media to pick up the phone so I could cancel sky sports, only to be told my bill would go up because I’d be on a different package without my current discounts.

I wasn’t directly looking to reduce my bill but paying more for less service wasn’t the outcome I was expecting.

Virgin are horrible shitbags part 10,632

  3. Stuck with them pending a possible move, I'm out of contact and if I'd known things would drag on this long I'd have gone with another provider. At one earlier renewal I tried to go to the internet only option they were offering new subscribers at a better rate. Nope, would have cost more than my full internet, TV and landline option... As you say, complete shitbags. This was supported by the fact that when they installed for the previous owners they ripped out all of the existing BT wiring out to the street. This made any other install from another provider at the point that I moved in impossible without a 6 week+ wait at the time for BTOpenWorld to connect me...

  4. They are the only high speed option in this locale. Couple years back I cancelled. Got various of their reps call offering deals. I said I don't want telly, don't want phone, just broadband and they're much too expensive and got offered deals at about one third of the price, that I really couldn't refuse.
When that contract ended I got put back on the ludicrous price so cancelled again. Because I actually paid one month I was so pissed off I really did cancel. Eventually I did get offered a better deal, but only about half price and I left it, still being pissed off.

What I told them before - and it is true - was that I want to reduce my internet usage, I don't really like it. I was serious, but had I been trying to convince them I wasn't bluffing, I don't think I could have done it better.

  5. I just wanted to cancel sky out of non use as 99% of the sport I watch is on TNT now

    Moto gp
    Wsb
    Bsb
    Endurance
    Speedway
    Cycling
    WRC
    The odd footy game
    (Amongst others)

Just want sky glass and a decent www provider now. Thinking BT. Need to wait for the last 8 months of my contract to run down.

  6. BT are in a shambles having made a decision to transfer its domestic market share to EE then reversing that decision when the then CEO resigned. Both, in my experience have their failings, some infuriating, some just annoying. Andy

  7. Having switched my mobile provider a month ago I received the final bill at the weekend for the princely sum of 28p.

So I ring up O2 first thing this morning to pay the bill/get the piddling amount cancelled..................fucking incompetent twats! I was on the phone for over an hour (1hr 17mins to be precise) and was passed from pillar to post before someone finally waived the charge. It cost them pleanty in sending the bill out in the first place without adding in the cost of the "advisors" not to mention my lost time. Cnuts.

  8. Booked a 2 week holiday to Florida, and am taking my parents with us, as a bit of a treat. I’ve always wanted to do it, so thought why keep putting it off, as who knows what’s round the corner. They’re very excited!

  13. Gulf coast. We've been going all my life, but I haven't been back since 2022. I'm renting a condo on the beach near all our old haunts, so it'll be great to be back there.

  14. Just cancelled the renewal on my annual holiday insurance. The robbing bastards want to increase the premium by 482%!

The search is on for new insurance.

  15. EDIT - quick check on GoCompare and I've reduced the premium by 17.5% from last year........which just shows how big a bunch of cnuts Columbus Direct are!

  16. Was surprised at my renewal with Carole Nash this year. Increase of about £20 on an annual European policy (£197 > £215). Not that cheap to start with as I have a pre-existing medical condition. But considering my off in France last year and resulting hospital stay followed by repatriation I was preparing for a complete shafting. I had to speak to them about the renewal price as there was no mention of my claim. The lady I spoke to said that travel insurance doesn't work that way and previous claims count for nothing, the increase was just the rising cost of cover. Was more than happy with the treatment of my claim last year so didn't shop around as cheaper isn't always better (had a serious issue with a claim on Post Office travel insurance a few years ago).

  17. I just switched mobile to Lebara.

Free texts (so what I'm too old)
    Free calls
Free roaming in most Euro countries
    35GB Data

    No contract
    No annual increases

    £1.10 per month x9 months, then £7.90 - £2.80 a month over the course of a year.

Ideal if your're going on holiday and want the data!

  18. Thanks for that I think i'll switch the whole family onto that, i'm currently paying £95 across 4 phones. The kids need to start paying for their own contracts and looks a cracking deal.

Data is quite cheap in non EU countries, I bought an eSim before I travelled only used 6.5G of data as I used WiFi quite a lot.

Or you could do what my Son did which was find places with free WiFi cafes and such and piggyback onto whilst stood outside.
