The shambles that was the Tory parties policy through the 80's and 90's, privatise publicly owned companies to be overseen by toothless regulatory bodies that have no real powers. Only for the public to be consistently ripped off, I offer the big 5 power providers as the pinnacle of 'being had'. grrrrr The Tories have taken their voters for mugs for decades.
Thames are offering these people 5 years pay over 18months. I wonder if any of them are ex Tory MPs! Meanwhile they are increasing Thames water bills by 40% to pay for it. Outrageous.
I'm just puzzled as to what people can suggest has been improved by privatisation of publicly owned companies, other than directors bonuses? Toothless regulatory bodies in a nutshell and governments who have sat idly by and let it happen and a public that are satisfied with the consequences.
Private companies exist essentially to make a profit. To do so from providing vital utilities is crazy. And the water companies operate as a monopoly. I HAVE to use Anglian for outgoing and Essex and Suffolk for incoming (or vice versa I forget). There is NO option. Put it back in public hands.
