Afternoon all. Rather than pay Ducati £600 to replace the sensor I’ve opted to have a go myself!!! Could be a disaster looming. Anyway, I have the new sensor, some plus gas penetrator oil but need to get the Socket with the slot in. I believe it’s 17mm but which one to buy. Some that I’ve seen don’t look very strong at all so want to get one that actually works! Can anyone recommend one by any chance? Cheers
Can you not slide a ring spanner down the unplugged cable? Preferably a 6 point? I haven't had any problems removing bike lambda sensors, you can always run the engine for a while first, the thin exhausts don't take long to heat up
I havent started it yet, but the replacement sensor has a plug on it that will not go through the ring spanner. Thinking about it though, if I'm replacing the sensor surely I can just cut the wire to get the faulty one out, but I guess tightening the replacement to the correct torque setting is why you need a socket.
As @nelly says they come out fairly easily. The proper spanners are normally required on sh8tbox cars that have been underwater for decades
if you are replacing it with no intension of reusing it and the open end feels like it's going to slip. just cut the plug off
