(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

  1. Added a couple more stands to the collection, valtermoto headstock and a Lightech rear. Was a bit of a drive to Chippenham to collect, but was interesting seeing all the euro trackday punters dropping off their bikes.

I payed a 10er for the red stand on the multi, there is no sticker but I think it might be a dp one.

does anyone know a uk distributor for valtermoto? I need a smaller pin for the ima triple clamps. IMG_1274.jpeg IMG_1275.jpeg

  2. Needs to be put back in, that is an order by the way. I’d be tut tutting if it was my street (yes I’m the King in the street) looks shabby.

  4. They all do that sir!

Especially if it’s an enjoyably loony machine like that.

  5. If it had cost under £135 there would be no duty to pay at all. That must hurt but that’s the break point.

  6. Good glad to hear it.

I can now tell you that the new rear Dunlop SportSmart TT fitted about 10 days ago is pretty much shagged. There’s a few more miles left in it, maybe 500 who knows but 1 trip from southern Spain up to and around the Pyrenees and back has pretty much toasted it. The grip was great, the hairpins and more enjoyable fast sweepers were really great but it’s a short tyre life. The front seems ok still, so it will last twice as long as the rears. The rear is squaring off after the ride back which took in a combo of sweepers and motorway boredom. I did find some fantastic roads on the way there and back and can tell you the gorge near Aragon is pure joy. I was disappointed to be riding past the MotoGP but the Pyrenees roads made it worth while.

It’s the front that’s making the difference. It just rolls from one side to the other with ease.

Therefore my current top combo would be a Sportsmart TT on the front and a Metzler M7RR or M9RR on the rear.

‘The horror’ different brand tyre combo!

BUT the Dunlop front is better on the Monster, for sure and I’d say the Metzeler rears are as good with much longer life.

Unless anyone else has a better suggestion.

  7. Dependant on tyre size needed you could fit a sportsmart mk4 or a roadsmart mk4, to get similar mileage as the front & possibly a similar stiffness carcase given Dunlop seem to like em stiff (ooerr missus) . I wouldnt want to run different manufacturers front / rear personally.

  8. Might be a good suggestion.:upyeah:

  9. Went over a mates house this morning to help him fit a QD mid pipe to his V4 multi which went very smoothly...couple of hours and that was with a cooked breakfast in the middle of it.

Did a bit of work on Dads bike, fitted Steel Dragon air filter pod thing....looks miles better than stock and the old airbox i can now store tools in for when it breaks down...awesome!

I might add that surprisingly i think i got the carbs balanced the best so far (im getting the knack slowly) that being said the tickover is set wrong now so i need to go back to it and kinda do the whole thing at 3000rpm...but not clever enough for that...

  10. Ordered a used genuine front fender for my Superdream, to replace the crappy aftermarket one that is currently fitted, not a bad price, to say how rare they are now, although, it will need re-chroming

  11. If youve not had anything rechromed yet get ready to be bent over...

  12. Over the years, I've had quite a few things done

I've had a quote of £180 to re-chrome a front fender, and de-chrome a fuel tank, I want the tank painted, not chromed

  16. Last quote i had was for the half rear mudguard on my old mans 400/4 - 250 quid...

  17. Stopped the oil leak on the sxv - as the crankcases are made out of cheese im being very careful with torque wrench limits (not trusting the old fashioned wrenches) - so when i get some money gonna go for an electronic beepy one...

  18. Fitted carbon wings
