The ASA have issued a report criticising the representation older people in advertising. Maybe worth a read when sitting down with your slippers and pipe (don't forget the bifocals). About time us oldies had woke protected status in our safe spaces. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2025/jun/19/uk-advertising-standards-authority-criticises-offensive-portrayal-older-people-advert
Meh. Adverts. The last advert that made me buy anything was a one for a bmw compact and that must have been around 1990. I honestly couldn't care less how I am portrayed, has zero affect on me
I think we are playing into their hands judging by above, the prosecution can rest their case - i always puncture any footballs that come over the fence before tossing them back.
Most ads are a load of w@nk. Those fabric conditioner ones with the bed in the field and all the dicks saying how it was the ‘freshest duvet ever’ or somesuch……fcuk off! Or the bloke sniffing an endless line of white sheets in a lavender field…..what the fcuk? And the puppet thing on the train, doing anoying things to annoying music - grrrr! I could write a list. A big one. And don't get me started on the plethora of constant gambling ads…..CNUTS! I record everything and ffwd through all ads now and have done for a long time. I even avoid them on YouTube by using DuckDuckGo browser (which I highly recommend - again).
I can never remember this quote from J.B.Priestley and have just googled it "Living in an age of advertisement, we are perpetually disillusioned. The perfect life is spread before us every day, but it changes and withers at a touch."
i have Keith, anyone got told off for "returning" a football over the wrong fence*? *bound to be a few d.e.'s in there.
Are the wrinkles required to be in equal measure to the grumpiness, or is some proportional variation acceptable? Just asking for a friend...
