Mat Oxley/Peter Bom reporting that he’s off to thee Onda in wsb next year and moto gp the year after. Got bored with that beemer pretty quickly!
There may be more but IIRC the list below were all WSBK winners who went to MotoGP and then did absolutely nothing, none of these guys were exactly slow, so I wonder what if anything at 29 yrs old Toprak can do ??? Scott Russel Troy Corser Try Baylis Colin Edwards Neil Hodgson James Tosland Ben Spies
Troy Bayliss won the WSBK Championship and a MotoGP race in the same year, 2006. So not quite nothing.
Only 9 riders have won a world title this century, doesn’t mean to say all the others who have tried (or will try) achieved nothing.
OK so maybe I chose the wrong words, I agree "nothing" was probably a bit disrespectful all were very talented, but went from championship winners to at best top 10 finishers, and yes there was the odd flash TB had a win and so did Ben Spies but most struggled to even podium
colin Edwards managed 12 podiums zero wins, just shows how different GP is to WSBK I'm excited to see what Toprak can do maye he can updset the applecart
I think he’ll be more help developing the new bike on the new tyres, doubt pramac give too much of a shiny what he gets up to on track next season as long as it’s not a complete disaster. The bike will be history in 12 months.
Yamaha, not sure if he will replace Rins in the factory team or Miller or Olivera at Pramac. Of the 3, IMO, Miller has the best claim to stay. Andy
