Hi, some context might be useful. I had to stop riding for a while following an illness and a longer than anticipated recovery, I bought a new multi 1260s just prior to Covid but got ill in ‘22. It has sat in the garage in the intervening period apart from annual mots and belt changes more as a motivation to me to get better and get riding again. This year is the first time I have been out riding and boy have I missed it! I still smile when I think of the glorious sound of the Termi on it! Unfortunately I am experiencing some difficulty at moving it around on the drive and in the garage - it seems to have grown in height and weight - to the point it feels like it’s an accident waiting to happen. Having read the v2 multi reviews I thought it might be a better bet so I test rode one. It is a pleasant enough bike and it is certainly flickable/nimble enough but it somehow lacked the presence and performance of my 1260s. The real killer for me was not being able to walk for three days after riding it. Nothing to do with the bike but something in the geometry did not “sit well” with my physical limitations! I do not suffer this after I have ridden my 1260 so on that basis I have no inclination to pursue the multi v2 any further. I would love a v4 s multi but have excluded that on the basis it presents the same problems as my 1260. I have test ridden a Diavel v4. I was initially reluctant to as I did not consider it to be my type of bike but having ridden it I am glad I tried it. Not only can I get my leg over without the need for an ambulance to be in attendance but I could walk after ridding it! Due to my absence this was the first v4 equipped bike I had ridden. It put a smile on my face every time I cracked open the throttle. Acceptable sound from the exhaust which is just as well as £5k for upgrade is too much for my wallet. At least I will not be worrying about the noise of the standard exhaust being antisocial or insurance issues so I can live with that. I found the suspension bloody hard and it was the only thing that detracted from it. Having had skyhook multis in the past I have been spoilt with changing the set up at the press of a button. I don’t think I have the knowledge to do multiple manual adjustments and experiment - particularly if the changes are physically difficult to do. Has anyone done this or can they recommend someone in Surrey who knows what they are doing on the suspension front? Would any owners recommend this bike for touring in Europe - I don’t think I will be able to do more than 150 miles in a day so it’s more about comfort and luggage. Has owner fitted the Ducati screen to their bike and found it beneficial? (I know rider comparisons are very subjective). It is not a cheap bike, what Ducati is, but it has got that grin factor to it. Any one with any insights to share would be helpful. I have read a new diavel is rumoured a new version will be released in 2026 does anyone have any info on this? Cheers!
Two good friends of mine recently purchased Diavels. One of them has gone on a roadtrip with his and it seems ok, but not « ideal ». He had a Multi 1100S before that.
An Aussie called Tony (i can’t remember his forum name) did an extended trip around Europe on his V2 Diavel, but what was more no impressive was his wife went on the pillion (god knows how). I would think as long as you keep off the motorways and have plenty of stops you should be fine.
My girlfriend toured Spain and Portugal on her 1st gen 1200 Diavel and tracked it at Cartagena. Being slight, if it wasn’t for the stationary machine handling weight, she’d still be riding one. Limited luggage capacity though. Andy
