I can personally vouch for that. I got frustrated with the 916 prices that people were getting for them in auction and actually bought one from the UK at the end of last year. By the time I paid import duties, taxes, and for all the stuff I've done to it since I got it, I ended up paying about what I said above. I would have much rather had this guy's 1994 Strada.
I originally decided to sell her as I was having to do major house refurbishment and rather than use some of my hard earned savings I thought I’d sell one of my early 916 bikes and as she was a really well sorted very nice bike I thought she would sell without to much hassle. I even dropped the price to what I thought would make it more affordable as I know the market was well down. I’ve had a few guys interested but no buyers. I’ve not been actively pushing the sale partly because she’s such a nice bike to look at and ride.so she’s still with me and who knows I might sell or I might keep her.
Well, if I didn't have a 916 project I was pouring a ton of money into right now, I would absolutely be interested. Just don't sell it short of what it is really worth if you get serious about letting it go! As you know this one is HIGHLY valuable to certain collectors. Go to the international market if you have to.
