Howdi, I have a set of mint Panigale R forks but the ones on my 1299S have some damage on the fork tubes and lowers. I was initially thinking of just putting the manual forks on and doing the DES delete but I was wondering if anybody knows if it is possible just to put the external parts of the Panigale R forks onto 1299s internals? They are both identical looking externally, so in theory it should work? I asked a local suspension place here and they hadn't a breeze!
I can't see why you would want to waste the R forks. You would surely be better off finding another cheap set of 1299S forks? Anyway, if you do want to the best person you could speak to is JWR Suspension up in Louth. I spoke to him a few years back about converting an elec 1299S rear shock to a manual one. He knows his stuff.
I always assumed the forks were basically the same - both have the NIX30mm internals, just the 1299S has the electronic adjusters? I'm in Ireland so unfortunately a lack of places that do work like this over here. I'll see if they have some advice though, thanks.
The only thing I can add is that JWR were able to convert the rear shock from elec to manual, however not able to convert the forks from elec to manual. So there must be something different enough in them to prevent that. However shocks and forks are still a dark art to me, so I personally do not have a clue!
