  2. I cleaned my bike as it was dusty as hell from the building site I live on. I plan on riding tomorrow for a few hours around Northumberland :)

  3. 13 years. 13 whole years i've been advising folks on here not to plan a visit and stick to it from mid june to mid august. why? cos it always pisses down during the school holidays. particularly on the west coast.
tho june has been unusually bad, you've got to be damn unlucky not not get wall to wall scorchio from the end of march all the way through to mid/late june. and the roads are way quieter.

  4. Took the 899 out for a few hours, Ducati’s don’t like 30+ degree days do they, struggling to keep the temperature below 100c . I feel cooked now I’m back! :grinning:

  13. Certainly ones of a certain age, here we are in Italy fitting a fan thermo switch bypass to my mates 996 a couple of weeks ago. It was puking coolant if we got stuck in traffic. Turns out that our suspicions were correct and the pressure cap was a bit flakey, a replacement once home, has solved the issue. The bypass kept things under control until then, switching on the fan at lower temperatures once the gauge started to rise and also in anticipation of a stop.

  15. Taken advantage of this fine weather and applied the base coat (Bronzo Opaco) to the frame of my 1994 916 Strada. Baking off nicely in the sun. I’ll follow up with 2 or 3 coats of matt lacquer.

I’ll be tackling the headlight housing in the same way.

  16. Is it not satin lacquer?

  17. My understanding is it’s a matt lacquer and the original finish certainly supports that, but happy to be corrected if I’ve got that wrong.

  18. I could be wrong, but I thought they were satin that turns matt with age. Need a second/third opinion ;)

  19. New rear tyre fitted, Dunlop Mutant. Cost me £169 posted and £23 to be fitted.

Better tyre than the usual Road5’s I swore by previously.

I managed 5200 miles before they were below limit, they didn’t look too bad before I went. Maybe Irish tarmac is super aggressive…..

  20. Looks like a good colour match to my aging eyeball & faded memory as it’s often hard to find an original unmolested/not faded frame colour to compare to these days . I’d go with a Matt lacquer 1st as you could swap to satin later if not happy.
