Hi all Multi v4 owners. Second ride out on my 2023 V4S. Weather around 28 C and my legs were getting very hot- especially the right leg. The temperature indicator was around 88 as the bike was moving on open roads. This was a bit uncomfortable and kept moving my legs away too cool them off. Has anybody else having this issue and is there a solution. ( I guess it will be good for the winter )
I know this won’t help, so apologies in advance. The latest system of dropping onto 2 front cylinders at stationary and low speeds works really well.
No apologies please - all is useful info to know. Getting hot when stationary or at low speed is understandable but I was getting hot when moving at a good speed. I suspect the side deflectors are directing the heat from the engine or the radiator towards the legs.
It does get hot when in traffic , I saw 105 degrees on friday , once on the move all fine again. I had a KTM 1290 Adv for a week in Spain and almost boiled my llocks , now that was way hotter than the V4. As Fraser mentioned , are the wings open.
ah thinking about it, when did the option to open/close come in? this is a 2023 bike so not sure if it was year later??
Probably not on the 23MY, my memory is telling me standard from 24MY. There is however a list of parts to update the earlier wings to flaps somewhere on the forum and it costs about £40. Andy
I have no levers. Not on the 2023 then. I compared the 2023 spare parts catalogue against the 2024 and there are more plastic bits for the 24 (kindly Ducati have made them available... I wonder why ). In other words, Ducati, realised there is an issue and resolve it by adding the flaps. I might add them on as well as the heat in hot weather (and we could be having a lot) is a bit too much... Thanks all ... we got there at the end
But unfortunately if you haven't got the flaps fitted, you can't open them to cool things so no further forward
@Fraser - on my to-do list although I can see a possible problem - I have crash bars fitted that could interfere with the flaps but we'll see. For once not expensive parts.
They do. Or at least i know that You can't close flaps with the evotech crash bobbins fitted. What i meant above was that if you find hot now without flaps (ie permanently open), fitting them isn't going to help
" What i meant above was that if you find hot now without flaps (ie permanently open), fitting them isn't going to help " #14Yesterday at 5:57 PM Oops - let's get this right. I thought the flaps were to stop hot air blowing on the legs. So - -What's the winter and summer position of the movable flaps. -What's the purpose of the movable flaps.
They call them vents, I call them drain pipes You shut the flaps in rain or real cold weather, otherwise they direct the water directly on to your legs, just above the opening of your boots, filling your boots with rain water - guess how I know!
So, back to square one!. I guess best to go ahead and add the movable flaps as they will solve the rain issue. Still left with the "hot legs" issue
The flaps are more to keep water off and also make the bike warmer in cold wet conditions. I’ve also found the heat to be an issue when we were in France this year. Worse at slow riding in towns etc. I was wearing single layer jeans but still uncomfortable.
