Potentially Hankering After This

  1. I've made no secret of my fondness for the 999 platform afer owning two 999S in years gone by. They sounded so awesome on full chat, even eclipsing the current V4 by some margin. This one is currently up for sale. I am sorely tempted! https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1911732

  2. You'll be the last person to ever pay that much money for it.

  3. 2005 face-lift model, never going to be the one to have.

  4. Not a lover of the Gen 1 version with the additional nose fairing slot. Not necessarily sold on this exact bike, but if I do pull the trigger, it would need to be a near perfect very low mileage example with it's originality intact, and I don't suppose there are many of those left up for grabs, at what one might call a reasonable price.

  5. Genuine question, why a garage queen ? I think these are at the top of their curve and old blokes like us that value them because of the sentimental view, are fewer and further between, they are a bit like where 205GTI's were a while ago, they now struggle to sell, to garner any real premium etc and the audience for those is much bigger ....

If its a forever piece of art, then go for it, but if its something you ever need your money out of, it will be a very small and shrinking market.

  6. I don't claim to be an expert on pricing or the market for older Ducati bikes.

Personally I would never buy that bike for £23K with the high probability that it will be unsaleable for £10K in five years or so; unless I was planning to ride it all the time and would therefore have had the return on my money that way.

All that said, its a pretty thing (aren't they all?) and its your money -so enjoy!

  7. Too expensive.

Scratch the itch with an S model and ride the wheels off it.

  8. Do you reckon you're gonna smile every time you open the garage or get excited like a little boy when getting ready to take him out for a ride or hoot with joy braappping out of your favourite 3rd gear corner or patting him on the tank when you get back.

If the answer is yes to all those & you can afford him then why the hell not?

  10. If you are not buying to make money or get your money back in a few years then wha is not to love. A thing of real beauty and class, I would never tire of looking at it. Not sure I would want to ride it though, I would buy a cheaper S for that.

  11. i think it looks great and cant be many of them with that mileage. but then i have a gen 1 thats original and with a rather lovely titanium leo vince corsa system. compared the one in the ad above mine was cheap when i bought it last april

  12. If the seller makes the sale he’ll have the perfect feedback score!

Mote realistic mileage and £9k less. What’s not to like?
