  1. Those Welsh cakes made by Mrs doggy look super good.they remind me of the Welsh cakes my Great Aunt would make on her Range in her cottage on the Gower Peninsula.About 70 years ago now but still remember the cakes.

  2. Yummy they look nice

  3. tax, tax, TAX? What is this strange language that you speak of???

  4. Yes, yes and most definitely no.

  5. Removed the last of the shite installation/ fittings from my Vivaro. Now the unanswered question is whether i will be able to do a better job!

At least all the over-sprayed glue on the carpeted walls/ liner has cleaned up pretty well using white spirit. Replaced a section of the ply floor as it was rotting -due to a tie down fitting being AWOL and allowing water to enter. Might have a new floor by tomorrow evening...

  6. Sound like you’ve got a bit of a job on your hands there Jez
. Are you intending to fully fit it out with a rock ‘n roll bed, three fridge and pop roof?
Photos of your progress would be interesting.

  7. No, nothing so grand. I plan to go camping in a movable metal box and see what I decide to add after that.

Way back in time, I spent two and a half years solo sailing around the world in 46 footer. Most of the equipment that failed were the "home comforts" and that happened early on. I lived without fridges etc for most of that time and didn't miss them. I'm curious to see if the simple traveling life is still the one I prefer.

    PS.
There will be some exterior styling bling added. LOL

  8. Wow that’s some achievement, there has to be some fascinating stories from that adventure.
I bought a panelled VW t5 about ten years ago and had it fitted out as a camper. Of all the equipment installed the only one that doesn’t get used is the oven. I was talked into it by the installation company at the time. Its currently employed as a low level book shelf.
As for the fridge, it’s powered by either mains electric, battery when running the engine or by gas when off grid.
Always have cold white wine is an essential when camping.
I haven’t added any bling to the exterior although I’m always eyeing up other van owners wheel choices with envy.
Maybe like you it’s time to dig out the Halfords card and go shopping!

  9. Well, the work convalessing trip this morning was on the headbanging SXV which, so far is the most comfortable to ride (high and wide bars). Took me by surprise tbh...thought the z would be more comfortable. If i can man handle it out of the garage Hyper next week...

  10. The sailing world tour was a wonderful time and I was extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to do it.

I want front bars and spots, maybe a rear ladder and roof rack, possibly a Fiamma F45S awning.

  11. Definitely the side roll out awning. Not only for shelter from both sun and rain it also defines the space right outside your side door. A pop up roof would be my next choice. It makes being in the van a far more comfortable place to be.

  12. I've been quoted £3500 for a pop top on a LWB T5.1

  13. My van conversion was approximately £18k around then years ago, from an empty panelled van to fully kitted out camper.
Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but over the years has proven to be worth it.

  14. mum not sure if they still exist but there was a company in Lancashire that did them who had a bad rep. I’d dealt with them in a previous incarnation and did not have a good experience.

  15. Jez is a silly-Billy and has blocked me because we hold different political opinions, but just to show there’s no hard feelings, if he’s in the market for a campervan awning, please pass this link onto him: https://cinchpopuptents.com/shop/thehub/

The Cinch Hub is amazing. Unlike other drive away awning systems it only takes a matter of seconds to put up/take down and it all packs away into an approx 80cm disc and a second bag which is approx 80cm x 10cm x 10cm. It’s also cheaper than most other systems.

  19. Our first campervan experience as a family, (2 adults, 2 young ado boys) was with a hire VW that had been professionally converted..it was a nightmare of poor design in the interior. Lack of storage space meant to change the setup from eating to sleeping meant you had to move bags around...horrible. The VW designed California is just so well considered inside, everything made to fit and adapt, seriously well thought out.
