Xdiavel Charging Connector

  1. Hey All
I have just purchased a xdiavels and noticed this connector hanging on the side of the bike (see pic). Im expecting this is for a trickle charger however i have a oxford oximiser which does not fit this connector.

My question is, is this for charging and can i get my oxford oximiser to worth with it ie buying an adaptor of some sort, or do i need a new trickle charger

Also another question, under the seat i have seen this plug (see pic), does anyone know what this is.

    Thanks

  2. That looks like an aftermarket charger pig tail which will be fitted directly to the battery terminals. Your Oxford charger should have been supplied with one (unless you fitted it and left it on the other bike). Spares are readily available and there might even be an adapter lead to fit that lead and your charger. Have to say, I’m not a fan of using the Ducati data port for charging, I much prefer a direct connection to the battery. Andy

  3. Im new to the xdiavel so have not even seen where the battery is, but i do have the battery lead for my oximiser so il figure out how to run it to the battery.
Ifits a pain i would rather use an adaptor to fit my oximiser cable and into this. I wasnt sure if this is a ducati genuine lead or aftermarket but thabks for clearing that up

  4. You’re first photo is an Optimate charger lead, it will have been run directly off the battery if it’s low down on the RHS. The battery on the XDiavel is under the RHS belly pan cover.

The 2nd photo is the diagnostic port. You can connect a charger to that if you have the correct adapter but I prefer going straight to the battery and in doing so it avoids having to remove the seat each time. I know it’s no hassle to remove the seat but I all depends where and how you’re bike is stored when not in use.

    Your options are
    1. Buy an Optimate
    2. See if you can find an adapter Oxford to Optimate.
    3. Get to the battery and swap the fly lead for the charger from the Optimate one that’s there to the Oxford one you should have. Be aware it’s very fiddly to get to the battery.

  5. I watched a video on how to access the battery, it does look a bit fiddly hence i thought a simple fix is just buy an adaptor. I have seen sportsbikeshop sell something so will be visiting them over tge weekend and see if that fits. Otherwise il just get to the battery.

Thanks for the advice just getting to know the xdiavel at the moment

  6. On some versions of that connector the rubber shroud removes. I agree with @Derek in using an off the shelf SAE to Tamya adaptor.
