1260 Dss Error Warning On Dash

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Coman, Jun 7, 2025.

  1. Just back from a week's ride in France around the Haute Savoie. Three days ago I noticed a small yellow square flashing on the dash. It read DSS with a suspension icon.
I continued riding the bike, it continued to show, but couldn't discern any difference in my bike's performance, so I was happy to carry on, but I'd like to know what the warning refers to exactly.
DSS - Ducati Safety System? Suspension fault?

  2. Ducati Suspension System…. There’s a fault in the setup, probably a sensor or the preload? Depending what it is, ABS or traction could be affected to.
Quick diagnosis read will help with the cause

  3. Thanks Nelly - I hoped you might answer!
I'll book a visit to Snells later to get the code read and hope the sensor or whatever is cheap :D

  5. I had the DSS error warning on my 1260s, my issue was a faulty front accelerometer (the one under the mudguard).

Good news is that a replacement sensor is only £30 from Ducati, bad news in that it connects under the tank so is a bit of a job to replace! https://ibb.co/SDX0m748

  6. I think you might be missing a 1 off that part price, they’re more like £130:worried:

  7. What a surprise :upyeah:, bargain.

I ordered one for a 1260 enduro about 3 months ago and it was £127. I’ve just ordered another for a multi V4S, same price. Admittedly the part number is very slightly different 55215502B but I can’t see why there’s a £100 difference in price.

I’m suspicious someone’s made a mistake when loading the info into Ducati’s parts system. I’m minded to buy a couple as shelf stock at that price :upyeah:

  8. Nightmare to get hold of, not a usual stock item so had be ordered from Italy, but, due to a Ducati IT issue, all orders are currently delayed and coming in dribs and drabs.

Not wanting to wait I called around a dozen Ducati dealerships (all quoting £30), I was just about to give up when I found one at Vindis Ducati Cambridge and they were good enough to get it in the post quick sharp.

You’re right though, seems super cheap, the accelerometer that is mounted on the bottom yolk and looks identical is £133!

Good shout on getting a spare! :upyeah:
