V4 Engine Tune V4 Multi

  1. Ironically ( and as is the way with the internet watching everything you look at) this video came up this morning.

Seems Ducati have made a new RS map.

  2. How do the maps affect fuel consumption?

  3. As a rule of thumb, fuel consumption is higher. Andy

  4. On the RS, the low speed fuelling is loads better. It's still not super smooth, due to the characteristics of the engine, but it's a hell of a lot better. And higher up the rev range, it's super smooth, and utterly crackers.

  5. The Ducati software update was released in May, so BHP had to wait for that before they could do a new map for my bike.

  6. Not sure engine performance between the V4 Desmocedici stradle and the V4 Grantourismo is a fair comparison. Andy

  7. I don’t care :joy::joy::joy::joy: I can afford to run it as it makes me happy ;)

  8. It’s not so much about consumption as range. Stopping every 100 miles is a pain on a trip.
Not saying that is what you get but the range of my V4 was always a bit of a bugbear.

  9. Get to my age, a break at 100 miles (or before) is an essential, not just for petrol :D :joy: Andy

  10. Rally does solve that with the 30L tank, just putting it out there :D:upyeah:

I guess for super smooth, I'd need to get a boxer, or inline 4 - I will take any improvement I can get.

I was actually a bit jelaus when I demo rode Kawa H2, how smooth the bottom end was, and it had the punch from low RPM too. Well done them.

  11. So I put the order in for BHP UK on Tuesday, got the unit Thursday, sent them my data that night. On Friday 10am they got back to me, saying work started. Half three I got the new data in my email... That's pretty decent turn around, if I do say so myself.

Upload was fairly straight forward, unit tells you what to do. The map change was anything between 5 to 10 minutes? The whole dashboard becomes a xmas tree for that time, quite the show if you ask me. Eventually you get back to the starting screen, means job done.

So went for a short ride right away. First impressions, observations. All data stayed there, no trip reset, no changing units from Km/h to Mp/h. It even remembered that I had touring set for engine to full power. So pretty good on that front. Ride itself, I'd say the bike is just more refined, more mature. Not sure I would say it's got more power per say, but the delivery is now continuous, very predictable. So yeah I'm liking it so far. I got to go to service mid August, so will be loading up the standard map back, curious how that will feel going back. It should be more obvious what the changes are.

As for the "this might not be suitable for touring" discussion that took place here, I would say the oposite. Makes it easier.
